Take My Date Please: Rich Wiener
Dating can become more like looking for a job without the salary and health benefits. Some men want a woman that is stunning, fits right into what they feel is their perfect mold and others are willing to let nature takes its course. Women often in some cases will give a man the benefit of the doubt even if his physical attributes are not exactly what advertised on these dating sites or even written in an email. Talking to someone on the phone can be somewhat enlightening but often lack honesty, truth and flexibility. First impressions can make or break a date and physical appearances can either turn someone off or send them in the direction of what they hope will be a lucky night. But, Take My Date Please is comprised of stories about many different people that the author interviewed and wanted to share their dating experiences hoping he just might incorporate them in his book.
Some of the stories will strike a familiar note or chord with those of you that have ever had dates that remind you of your favorite horror movie character. Others might will enlighten single readers to the pitfalls people fall into when searching for the right partner, thinking that things will work out on the first or second date and although connections may have seemed to be made on date one, never get your hopes up and when I relate some, not all of these hilarious stories you will understand why. Caution people! Think before getting too close and let’s start with date one: Take Me Home.
Mae was thrilled to be going out with Harold. Harold’s appearance on the dating site seemed okay but you know some men are honest and Harold well not quite. Mae being polite and not a mean person decided to overlook the fact that everything he described about himself was not true and his apparel for their first date even worse. But, that was the good part. Parking her car and learning what he was driving made it even worse. Harold seemed pleased with himself and never told her where they were going for dinner but expected her to go along with his plans. Well, the Chinese restaurant was his favorite. Ordering for her not the best idea and the ending well you read it to find out why poor Mae just wanted Harold to TAKE HER HOME!
Surprise! Surprise was really quite interesting. Jack was excited about his second date with Millie. Meeting at a party thrown by a friend he was really impressed with not only her appearance but also their conversation. Going out to dinner with her seemed fine but what happens on what was supposed to be their second date will leave you guessing as to what was Millie really into, just what did Jack see when he went to pick her up and what exactly was the surprise! Read it you won’t be disappointed even if Jack was.
Here Comes the Judge is followed by Rich’s discussion of Health Club’s and why people when they become widowed or divorced head for the club to reshape themselves you might say and the reasons why going to the gym is for some and not others. Men that become widowed are often not ready to date read Crying to find out why. The Blue Pill is really quite funny and might possibly be familiar to some of you out there reading this story. Mitch and Inez seemed to have it off in more ways than one. Their conversation was stimulating, their love of movies, theatre and dancing similar and their hope to become connected in other ways apparent. Exchanging phone numbers and planning their next date left them both wanting more. But, when Mitch greets Inez what she witnesses will definitely send her in a direction other than the one he hoped for. Just what is that little Blue Pill and what did it do for Mitch? What does Inez do when she realized just how happy he is to see her? Find out when you read it for yourself. This story is priceless.
Dennis is self-centered and really not a very considerate person as you will learn when you read Bowling Anyone? Poor Rose was a good sport to go bowling on their date but what happens when the ball falls on top of her foot will make you want to find another one and send it Dennis’s way. Find out why when you learn just how Dennis learned what a perfect strike out really means. Sex After Marriage is followed by Sister Act. The Outhouse will definitely make you laugh, smile and feel sorry for poor James as his experience will make you wonder what happens when someone eats the wrong thing, needs to use the bathroom and then gets well you have to read it to find out why Anna spent more time in the Outhouse then with James. Never Satisfied deals with a really nice man named Marshall who has like most men his own criteria for the type of person he wanted to date. Checking his emails he comes across one from someone named BK or as we learn Bunny. In retail she seemed kind of stuck up when speaking to her but being open minded he agreed to meet her. Meeting, going for drinks in an upscale restaurant is one thing but the end result, the bill and what she does is truly one for the books you might say. Some women never consider the fact that some men can or cannot afford to spend over 200 dollars on a simple date. This one got drunk, was rude in many ways and although the waiter had no choice but to deal with her requests and demands poor Marshall learned the meaning of well you figure it out when you read Never Satisfied. Each date described is different but the outcomes pretty much the same and everyone learning different lessons. Judging someone by their appearance is not always right but when you meet a person you hope that they related the truth about themselves beforehand. But, imagine going out with someone from your past that you wished you had dated before. Imagine what happens when you realize that the person you thought you were going to meet is does not look like the one you expected. Does it really matter if a woman is overweight if she is nice and intelligent? Does it matter whether you go to a fancy restaurant or have coffee on a first date? My favorite story is Busted and I won’t tell you why. Find out what happens when Paul gets the surprise of a lifetime when Ande teaches him a lesson he just might never forget. Finally, my other favorite story was It Only Takes One. Not every date turns out to be a disaster. Sometimes you just might hit that right match, perfect chemistry and you never know what might happen. Just ask Bart!
Lessons in dating you won’t get from reading this book but things to watch out for, important lessons to learn you will get after you read the hilarious stories written by author Rich Wiener. Dating is hard and after being divorced or widowed many men and women become disheartened. Analyzing dates and every move you make on one is not the way to go. Thinking that you are going to meet the right person and fall in love on the first date think again. It could happen but not always. Take My Date Please! I can remember quite a few that I would have loved to ditch before the night was done or even before set foot into a restaurant or coffee shop. But, some of the important tips stated are definitely worth repeating. Never meet at your home until you get to know the person. Make sure that they give you their home phone number not just their cell making sure they are not married. Meet in place with a lot of people and my own rule when I dated never get into a car with someone on the first date and that lesson I learned when I wound up calling my brother to come and get me on a blind date set up by a friend. Can’t tell you any more. The people are real. Their names are not but the situations and the dating disasters should make you wonder why some people continue on, are still trying to meet Mr. or Ms Right and as Bart will attest to you never know: If only takes one. Thanks Rich for making me laugh. For these hilarious and insightful stories and reminding everyone that it is just dating and before you take it too seriously and get upset don’t. The right person could be just a click or email away.
