Arts and Crafts: J.T. Prescott
Don’t let the title fool you! This book is not about teaching you how to create your own art project, painting, mural or even gallery collection. This book will teach you how to become aware of your surroundings, keeping your mind clear and ready for action and never letting your guard down. Now, have I got you hooked yet or do you need more? What can three seniors do to uncover a government plot, stop it from happening and safe the world? What would happen if a security company under the guise of trying to protect many government officials was behind sniper attacks, possible takeovers of cities and the mass murder of people throughout the United States because these people are dissatisfied with the way the government is being run and decided to create havoc in order to take over the many branches of the government and run it their own way. But, will they succeed? Not if Ken Frazier and his teammates Bill Davenport and Craig Charles have anything to say about it. But, first let’s fill you in on what happens when Carla Robbins overhears a conversation at the Mayflower hotel about senators and congressman and doesn’t call the police or anyone in power and winds up, you guessed it dead. George Larsen was the only person she trusted with this information and he entrusted it to Ken. With today’s technology, hackers, computer techs and more there is little that cannot be uncovered starting with phone records, tapes of those that enter a room and your personal information, nothing is sacred or hidden. It is rare that someone cannot hack into some database and find out where you are, where you have been and when you used your credit card last. But, let’s not get ahead of ourselves because there is much more that she overheard. What if a team of snipers has been recruited and is in training to implement attacks on many cities throughout America? What if they will be up and in place within a few months and will expand when the body count increases? What if this information got not only Carla but also George killed too?
Sam Flagg lived across the street from Ken Frazier. When his parents died in a plane crash Ken and his wife Ann became his adopted parents. Sam is a civil engineer and is well respected but when Ken calls him to visit him at The Village, the senior facility where he now resides, he does not hesitate to come and see him. But, first understand that Ken is did many covert operations for the government, has in’s with the CIA and FBI and know how to go under the radar and not be found. Untraceable phones, post office boxes under assumed names, other identities, disguise and using his old resources and infrastructure to get information is just the tip of the iceberg. Encoded and untraceable messages, secret ways to set up meetings and three seniors that just might take down a group of people so deadly and so dangerous that if allowed to exist would ruin more than just the economic infrastructure of the United States.
Bill Davenport of a financial genius and has access to unlimited funds. Craig is a powerful lawyer whose connections expand in many directions. Together with Ken they are a powerful team if one has a bad heart, the other bad feet and one is thought to have dementia but does not. So, just how will they enlist the help of Sam Flagg, get him to quit his job and start his own investment company? Would you if someone offered you 300 million dollars to play with? Would you if you were about to become an instant millionaire? But, there are risks that might hamper you lifestyle, cause you bodily harm and possibly death. Meeting in the arts and crafts room of their retirement home at 9 at night when everyone else is asleep these three men create a plan to take down Red Sky the security firm that seems to have its eyes, ears and body everywhere watching not only them after a while but many government officials too, to discuss what they have in mind. You just won’t believe how clever they are. Using the fact that they have formed a club called Death in Art Club where each one brings in a picture of something that dealing with death for the others to draw or use as a model to draw their own, these three men and Sam devise a plan that will make what others have done in the past or what we read about in the news pales by comparison.
Pearl Howard is smart, savvy and Sam’s liaison and the daughter of one of Ken’s three friends. Craig Charles explained the new company that Sam would be forming and complex money-management structure of limited partnerships and companies and the managing partner of one of the Philly offices. Her job to set up the documents, entities and help walk Sam through what he needed to know even before he gets started. Added in he would have to take shooting lessons and learn how to use different types of guns plus combat classes. Sam’s life would now take a different direction and his level would change. No cell phones, only disposable prepaid ones, any discussion on landlines and or conventional phones. Simple codes would be developed for setting times to meet and coming back and forth to the Village or anywhere else would require changing routes, and mixing it up. No credit cards just cash and staying under the radar grid was of utmost importance.
Senator Burton Fenwick is a dangerous man along with Secretary of the Navy Garth Tydings whose goal it was to implement this sniper program along with many other congressman, judges and government officials all the way up to the White House. But, when George Larsen is taken out along with Carla Robbins the Senator feels that the threads of his plan are starting to fray and come apart and he counts on Tydings to find out just who was at the Mayflower Hotel that might cause them problems. Leaving his job and starting anew Sam finds himself in over his head you might say.
Being asked to prepare a “slew of entities, offshore and domestic,” this inexperienced civil engineer with no financial background has to raise 300 million in thirty days and invest it in a way in which there are no restrictions. So, with the help of Craig Charles of Charles, Lincoln, Kessler and Proud along with Bill Davenport the financial expert and backer how could he fail? But this would require tons of money to be laid out and Pearl Howard’s fee was high as the new company Pelham Creek Capital was born.
Meet Hank Christian hear his voice as we learn more about what he has planned within the pages of Chapters 14-17. As Sam purchases office space with something extra added that just might save his life.
Lessons in combat that focused on awareness, clearness of mind and balance seem well researched, as does the author’s knowledge of surveillance and weaponry. The lessons imparted are quite interesting, as everyone should learn to be more aware of their surroundings and as the expert says be able to strike fast and kill quickly when in danger. Sam would understand and utilize these lessons sooner than he realized as his next lessons were in weaponry.
Living at a retirement home there are many residents that love to gossip and mind your business like Basil Pertwee who seems to want to know what these three men and Sam are up to when they enter the Arts and Crafts room meet. The Death in Art Club convenes and one person brings an example of what everyone has to draw hoping that no one else would want to join them and find their concept anything but what they would want to draw or do. Learning about the Intel that Ken finds out and that 20 people have been recruited and are being trained, Ken needs to set a path to find the trail to the weapons and locate them.
Meet the Sniper Organization first hand and listen to what they have planned and you decide if you would want to be recruited. The end result is not always what you hope for or expect as Sam meets Larry Carson and takes lessons in handling different weapons and his career moves up more than just one level and he becomes immersed in this multi-million dollar investment company. With a handpicked staff and one friend from his old firm, Sam learns lessons in loyalty and betrayal.
The plan devised by Ken was complicated yet when Sam travels to Brussels following what he was told and taught would save his life. Scouting out the Senator and scoping his movements helped when final decisions had to be made. Lives would be lost, sacrificed and someone close to them would betray more than their trust as the two agents enlist the aid of someone living in the Village to supply the information needed to stop what Ken and his three comrades started. Chapters 28 and 29 will take you to Brussels with Sam, finding his sniper and what happens will change his life forever as the mission escalates, he comes a target for those at Red Sky and being on the alert was even more important.
The final stages of a diabolical plan come into place as the author and members of Red Sky enter a Mayflower Hotel, discuss how our government is weak and dysfunctional. Both sides listening in on each other and only one comes out on top. Who wins? Who dies for their beliefs and can Ken, Bill, Craig and Sam stop what has already been started? When the truth is revealed and the betrayals come to light the author provides an ending that will shock readers, have some really great twists and surprises and put him up there with some of the best mystery/thriller writers. Characters that are believable, vividly described and a plot that will keep you glued to the printed page and hoping for a sequel. What is the final outcome and what happens to Ken, Chuck and Bill? Where will Sam go from here? Will he continue with his new career or will he go back to being a civil engineer?
