The Healer

The Healer: Christoph Fisher:
Do you believe in miracles? Do you believe that someone’s hands are so powerful that they can rid you of a terrible illness, perform treatments on you that might make you feel worse and yet with the power of touch and faith make you whole again? Do you believe in miracles? Do you believe in God? But, most of all do you believe in The Healer? When you hear his words, feel his hands all over your body, along with the woman he is trying to heal, decide for yourself, if the pain, the nausea, the anguish and the trust you have placed in someone you barely know, was worth it? Would you give up half your wealth and finances to a stranger that claims he can heal you? Would you give up all of your pain meds, toss aside western medicine and place your faith, trust and soul you might say in the hands of The Healer? Would you? Erica has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and the doctors have told her that the medications and treatments are just a shortstop gap prolonging the inevitable. But, Erica Whittaker has an angel in Hilda, her assistant who she has not really treated royally but for some reason wants to make sure that she sticks around for a long time. Telling her of many different or unorthodox methods, introducing her to many different people, Erica begins a regime of care that she hopes will prolong her death. But, one man named Arpon is the answer. If she can convince him to take her own. Western methods have failed her and her only hope is Arpan but can she locate him and convince this retired healer to help her. Stage four-pancreatic cancer is serious and her time is limited. Can this man’s hands, touch and spirit save her life?

. She locates the man whose touch could heal her but finds he has retired from the limelight and refuses to treat her. Erica, consumed by stage four pancreatic cancer, is desperate and desperate people are no longer logical nor are they willing to take no for an answer. Arpan has retired for good reasons. casting more than the shadow of a doubt over his abilities. So begins a journey that will challenge them both as the past threatens to catch up with him as much as with her. Can he really heal her? Can she trust him with her life? And will they both achieve what they set out to do before running out of time?

An elixir that supposedly could cure her and a pair of hands that would reach into her body and soul and take out the diseased cells. But, would this really work and the pain that she endured, the side effects that she incurred would it be worth it? But, not everyone wanted her to get well and there were others that were following her movements and progress without her knowledge. Forcing the hand of Arpan on many occasions and insisting that his assistant release information that he wanted kept secret did not always endear Erica to them or to most people that she met in Wales. Anuj is very protective of Arpan for his own reasons and stating that he gave him his life, helped him choose his path was what bonded them. But, a question that was posed to Erica might be one that everyone reading this outstanding title should ask themselves when offered a special gift, when not sure of which road to take: What do you want from your life? If you deny yourself all the time, you’ll never be happy. Erica seemed to alienate herself from the people she worked with, the people she met and always seemed defensive.

Coming to the retreat in Wales Erica thought that everything would fall into place and she would have no more worries. However, the woman that ran the B&B gave her much pause for thought and Mrs. Jones’s actions, words and attitude would make anyone suspicious of her motives. Why would she care about Erica? Why did she invade her privacy? What did she really want to know?

Author Christoph Fischer reveals the history behind Arpan’s retirement, why he refrained from practicing, what really happened to Erica’s parents and a link that you won’t expect. Some patients he tells her were healed and some were not. Drug companies are after the elixir and tried to force him to sell. When the treatment failed he was sued. Some forged documents that he received and yet he knew at first glance. Drug companies and patients that he saw: Where they in it together? The author introduces a woman named Julia who is deadly and vicious. As Erica finally has her final treatment, goes back to her old life she finds that not everyone wants her to return. Throughout the novel until she is supposedly cured, we hear the voice of Hilda her assistant who put her in touch with Arpan, told her about his treatment yet you wonder from their conversations why she took such an interest in someone who was rude and crude to her.

Smear campaigns, bad press and a witch-hunt to get his miracle cure and then someone comes to the retreat and everything changes. Just who informed the drug company about Erica and why were they going to try and take control of her life? What would that mean to her? Wait and see when she returns to her old job, finds herself evicted and has no choice as you read and hear the voices erupt and the dialogue that sets the tone for what is to come on pages 92-96.

The conversation continues as Anju explains to Erica more about Arpan and the deal he was forced to make with the drug companies. Would you risk it all and give up your life’s dream to save other people? Would you sell off the one thing that belongs to just you and allow others to use it? People live, others do not, one man’s dream could fade away. For 20 years he tried to be “ as clean and pure as he can be.” His goal is to practice again. But truths are uncovered, deceits are revealed and when Erica returns home she is forced to make a decision that would change her life forever.

Erica wanted the truth about her illness and insisted on getting, in secret, scans, tests, x-rays and MRI’s to learn whether the cancer cells were gone. Comparing the results to her old scan and then to another would reveal something she never would have expected. When push came to a real shove Erica found herself in a position that she that forced her hand. Where would she go and why would she allow Julia to control her life? At what cost?
Lies, betrayals, deceits, revenge and vengeance come to light as on woman’s life hangs in the balance and someone is controlling or pulling the strings. A doctor who was suspect of her wishes and an outcome that was quite startling. When the truth is told and end result is near what Erica learns will either send her on a path to learn more or find herself held captive. A deal made that would alter a predicted outcome. An elixir that could save lives but does it really work? One man who claims his hands have the power to heal and one young man who would never leave his side or give up. What happens will surprise readers as there is a fine twist that author Christoph Fischer creates that will make you wonder: Is there more to the story? Is he going to bring back these characters again? What is Erica’s fate? Was she cured or was this an illusion? Do you believe in miracles? Would you put your body, soul, money and faith in THE HEALER? After reading this compelling and thought provoking novel you, the reader decide if you want to be Arpan’s next patient.
