Inside Man

Inside Man: Jeff Abbott

Within the world there are people who enjoy living many different lives. Risk takers and often finding themselves in difficult situations and hoping that their movements and actions will not be noticed or seen by others. Sam Capra owns a bar named Stormy’s but in reality it was given to him by an international government organization called the Round Table. Powerful and hoping to do good for people throughout the world, Sam was given several bars of own or oversee while handling other situations for this group. When his best friend Steven Robles enters the bar, has a few drinks and explains that he’s waiting for someone to arrive, little did Sam or Steve realize what was about to happen next. Stormy’s is a bar in Miami and frequented by regulars that enjoy the closeness and welcoming feeling. After a days work many enjoy the respite of this local bar. While he and Steve catch up on their visit, Steve offers Sam a job as his inside man in his private security firm. He needs what some call a mole, an informant or scab to complete assignments, get information and infiltrate inside certain businesses or families to gather information not readily available. While he and Steve are talking a young woman named Cordelia enters the bar, has enlisted Steve to help her find out just where 10 million dollars has gone. But, this is related to her family who is quite powerful, in to money laundering, drugs, arms and much more and who does not want her to become involved. But, as Steve leaves the bar and is about to bring Cordelia’s car around, someone in a black car shoots Steve as he is about to follow Cori or Cordelia safely home. But, Sam is witnesses the murder, takes his friend’s motorcycle and hunts down the two killers, managing to kill one and put the other one in a coma in the hospital. Will he wake up and identify him before Sam has the answers to who killed his friend? But, things get even more complicated as Cori reappears and things spiral out of control as Sam is inducted into her family but not in the usual way. Sam enters the lives of the Varela family and despite his own misgivings, his warnings from Cory he manages to ingratiate himself into the family’s good graces when someone tries to kidnap her father. But why? While her family is protective they are also smart and Cori passes Sam off as her latest conquest or boyfriend. With a family that is into many illegal businesses and distrusts everyone they meet, just what happens when Sam becomes the Inside Man in the Varela family? Can he or will he make out alive?
The members of the family are quite unique each one wanting to run a company that is so corrupt and uses its members as pawns. Sam decides to become part of the Varela family thinking that as an inside man he can get a handle of just what they are smuggling, what they are doing that is legal and possibly end what is not. But, Sam gets taken in, in more ways than one and when things do not pan out he finds himself kidnapped, imprisoned and tortured by people that are powerful, dangerous and greedy. With the help of Jimmy and Mila from the Round Table and a CIA operative, Sam hopes to gain entrance to places that he would ordinarily find closed. Hunting for his friend’s killer not only endangers him and Cori but others within the family whose trust he thought he could count on turn counterclockwise. As the truth is unveiled and the realities of where the money from her charities are really going, can Cori believe what Sam relates or will she defend her family until the end?
Lies, betrayals, family disloyalties, a father who has dementia and does not always understand what is happening, can Sam convince Rey to listen to what he has to offer or will Galo, Kent and Zhanna take over in an organization that appears to be legit but is not. Rey Verela was once a smart and astute businessman and with health issues plaguing him, he wants to turn over the business to his son Galo as CEO. With his stepdaughter running security, both illegal and legal, what happens as a result is frightening. With FastFlex on the decline a cargo company run by the Varela Family, just what part of the business is secret? Who knows the truth?

With the help of a savvy librarian and great hacker named Paige who worked for his old handler in the Round Table. But, Sam is persistent, will not give up yet Cori remains loyal to her family. Reminding readers that he has a young son named Daniel, the death of his brother in Afghanistan, author Jeff Abbott creates doubt, fear, uncertainty and distrust among each of the characters within the family as Sam fights for his life, tries to protect Cori before a showdown that is heart breaking, heart stopping and frightening as Cori is warned many times to stay out of the family’s way. With ten million dollars and more at stake how Sam Capra/aka Sam Chevalier comes up with his plan to save Cori, deal with her family and hopefully come out alive you just won’t believe.

A simple casino chip holds the key to how money was funneled to new account or name. One man who used his lack of sight to his advantage. A family who used their casino as a front for services rendered. Smuggling drugs, weapons, cash and you won’t believe what else as Sam becomes part of their deadly plot and might wind up more than just an Inside Man. When lives are at stake and the final scenes are created just who lives, who dies and who pays the ultimate price for deceit you won’t believe. A family torn apart by greed, lust, hate, revenge and lies as Sam Capra fights to find out why his friend died as he becomes part of the Varela family until well you have to read it to learn more.

Author Jeff Abbott takes readers inside a family that appears united but will surprise you as each one strikes out in order to gain what they think belongs to them. The Varela Family: United, Disjointed, Hateful, Conflicting and what happens at the end will alert readers that sometimes too much power comes with a price. This is one book you won’t put down until you read the powerful ending.

A character that is strong, persistent, tenacious and a plot that is so unique in scope that the reader will stay riveted to the printed page wondering just how this talented and creative author will finally fit all of the pieces of the puzzle together. But, not every book has an ending you would expect and this one leads readers to know that the story is far from over.
