A RED DOTTED LINE: SIMON GERVAIS

A |Red Dotted Line

Sheik Qasim AL –Assad is determined to take on the United in a game of revenge and retribution. Using his two sons to shield and take on missions that would not only bring down the United States by helping to create a virus that the former Soviet Union was testing, would strike against the United States. The Marburg virus disease also known as the Marburg haemorrhagic fever was first learned of and identified in 1967 during epidemics in Marburg, Frankfurt Germany and Belgrade in the former Yugoslavia from monkeys that were infected and imported from Uganda. If let lose the virus is a severe and highly fatal disease caused by a virus from the same family as the one that causes Ebola. These virus are among the most dangerous pathogens known to infect humans. This is known as a virulent virus and has genes and proteins that allow them to quickly take over and infect cells. Imagine what will happen it the Sheik and the President of Russia succeed? Although both MVD and Ebola are rare they can cause outbreaks and high fatality.

As the first scene opens we meet a man named Louis Wall who is determined to have revenge for the death of his ex=wife and the target he is aiming for is Charles Mapother the head of the International Market Stabilization Institute the man who killed the lives of his older brother three decades ago. Things get heated and terrorism is the name of the deadly game as Mike Walton and his wife Lisa once again take a dangerous center stage in a novel so riveting so terrifying so bone chilling that it will keep you up at nights wondering can this really happen? The IMSI is an organization that is privately funded and who purpose goes outside the main official channels in order to protect North America’s financial assets. Russia aims to take it all and it is up to Mike and Lisa to risk not only their lives but that of others within their team to stop what has already been put into place. As the main target is Charles Mapother and an attempt on his life came out of nowhere, the missions that they go on are more than deadly and dangerous. The mastermind behind it appears to be the Sheik but there is someone higher pulling the strings of so many that no one can be trusted. The Sheik is their target and hoping to finally take him down for kidnapping Mike’s father, Ambassador Ray Powell over two years ago. The clues center on the fact the someone has recreated the Marburg virus for the exact purpose of unleashing it on the United States. If they cannot stop it more lives will be lost more than those killed in the camps in Germany during WWII. Just who can be trusted on both sides? With the White House denying their existence and knowing that they operate above the law and their degree of technology far superior and on a level higher than any other except NSA, they are deadly. Mike and Lisa are going to be sent on their first mission to catch Louis Wall. The plan outlined, the players in place and the setting Grand Central Station.
The mission revved up Mike’s motor or adrenalin and the end result was taking someone down. The IMSI took this leader and then sent Mike and Lisa to Moscow to do some investigating. But, the best laid plans and covert operations do not yield the right results and their cover is blown. Lisa is sent to a town which is where Russia’s biomedical weapons research facility is located. This is close to where the virus is being recreated. Mike is told to make contact with Dr. Galkin the man who has all of the information about this deadly virus before someone gets to him first. But, finding the contact has some snags and the research lab where he worked is link to the political boss that is in charge of the dangerous project. However, we then meet the two sons of the Sheik the first Zakhar who is sent on a mission to kill the head of IMSI but fails. Igor the second son had his own agenda in mind and although he appeared loyal to his father his goal was to look good in the eyes of the Russian President. With his brother gone and now following some named Denis he learns that he is turncoat and must be eliminated too. Zima Bernbaum was about to go through the final stages of testing to become a member if the IMSI team. But, the author throws her some serious curve balls and even though she mastered every test and would be a valuable asset tricking her into thinking she failed made her the brunt of the joke which she had to get over fast.

The mission changes and Zima once recovered Dr. Galkin’s team created and added the Marburg virus as Mike and Charles speak about it and discuss what ramifications of it. But, Mike was flashing back to the death of his daughter, Melissa and his mother killed by a suicide bomber at the Ottawa train station. The story and the terror escalade greatly as the creator of the virus is given praise for her work but is she really immune to what someone wants of her or want to do to her?

Mike and Lisa are not immune to tragedy but he somehow learns where they are taking his father and with Lisa off on a mission he has to focus on his but can he?   Every step of the way someone I watching their every move and when things come to a head Lisa is the victim and is taken. Hurt, battered, shot at and now hidden away by a dangerous killer that wants revenge for the deaths of so many related to him that Lisa and now Ray will suffer at his hand. As Mike enlists the help of James Cooper and often finds himself victim to what these killers want, the Sheik will be tested beyond his limits as he is forced to prove himself over and over again as he is blindsided by someone he thought he could trust. . Favors are owed as Charles calls on in and enlists the help of the Director or National Intelligence Richard Phillips even though he would rather not. Proving the Russians are working with the Sheik would be hard enough, knowing that they are ready to start a war and the fact that his asset left a mess behind to get the information he needed it cleaned and disappeared. His assistant Jonathan Sanchez working to help but when Charles would not explain who the asset was why did the Israeli spy hang up? Distrust on both sides, hate, revenge as Russian President Simonich deals with the Sheik and the scene will keep readers hanging as you do not know who will come out alive, will the Sheik finally get what he deserves as Dr. Lidiya Votakov things she is meeting with the man who she truly still loves to learn of the ultimate deceit. The final mission will keep you guessing, having you hold your breath and wondering when they finally alight or jump out of the plane and land where they think two hostages have been taken will they be able to safe them or will Mike lose again? A deadly virus has just begun to take a life but can they stop it before it spreads too far? Author Simon Gervais takes readers deep inside the minds of Russian terrorists, biological warfare, hate, revenge, deceit and one man who will stop at nothing to destroy anything that comes in the way of the dotted red lines that are delineated on the footpaths of a map that will send some to their deaths and others where you won’t believe. Just where will those red lines lead to determine where the threats are?
With what is going on in the world today the author hit on plot that will make you shudder, shiver and shake and pray that the IMSI team succeeds before the virus wins out. Brilliantly crafted, characters that are true to life, spies, enemies, IMSI assets and two characters Mike and Lisa that you hope survive and see more of. Will her reckless behavior be her downfall? Will Mike safe her? Will he be able to tell and read the RED DOTTED LINES?
