THE GIRL WHO DISAPPEARED TWICE

The Girl Who Disappeared Twice: Andrea Kane

Two twin sisters are sleeping side by side both drugged in the middle of the night and one taken away. As the scene plays out one young child will be ripped away from her family while the other grows up to become a powerful judge. In the past we meet Felicity and Hope before one is taken. In the present we meet Hope as she now will endure what her mother went through when Krissy her daughter is stolen and taken away from her by an unknown kidnapper. With the FBI, the police, every law enforcement agency known to man involved Hope enlists the help of a private and the definitely unique Forensic Instincts owned and started by Casey Woods with a team that is so diverse and amazing. Yet Edward, a lawyer and the father of Krissy along with her nanny Ashley, seem to be harboring a secret and both resent the fact that Casey and her team are there. Just what are they hiding and why wouldn’t they want her back? Frantic, scared and feeling alone, Judge Hope Willis is reliving another nightmare but guilt plagues her over the disappearance of her sister who was never found and the case still running cold, and a husband who is going to fight her every step of the way when she calls in Casey and her team because the legal system is the only solution according to him.

Things spiral out of control when other people come into play as Casey and her team along with the FBI have to piece together many pieces of a convoluted puzzle stemming back to the first kidnapping. When Casey realizes that Ashley and Edward have more than just an employer and employee relationship she confronts her to learn that Hope is about to make the first mistake of hopefully not many. With her father having left after her sister’s kidnapping, what will happen when she finally learns the truth behind his disappearance as Patrick Lynch, joins forces with Casey as the primary detective on her sister’s kidnapping and now they are going to learn if both kidnappings are related. When we meet Sam Ackerman her father we learn about his connection to the mob and why Felicity was taken. When Casey follows Hope and realizes what she has done did she by taking matters into her own hands endanger Krissy even more? Who called her and demanded the ransom money? Who gains from the kidnapping and why? Who pretending to be Hope was able to kidnap Krissy and lure her into her car one that looked like her mothers. But, sometimes the obvious is overlooked and when the truth comes out readers will be shocked and so will the rest of the cast of this outstanding novel. Threats are made over the phone and if Hope does not pay the money they will kill her daughter since the first 24 hours are the most vital and in this case the timeline has passed. With Ryan who can hack into anything, Claire, who is clairvoyant and will join her team and Mark a former navy Seal there is nothing they can’t or won’t do. Casey’s boyfriend Hutch leads another part of the task force and has added in Hero, a great bloodhound to help with the investigation. As we get to know Sam things about Hope’s family will enlighten readers as to his mob alliances and why he covered for his long gone friend Henry and what this kidnapping might do to ruin his life once again.

Listening to all sides speak and hearing Sam and his relationship with the mob and knowing that the kidnapper entered the house unnoticed and took things that would remind Krissy of home, the obvious does not seem to dawn on anyone and no one realizes who is doing this and why. With the help of Claire, Mark and Ryan banning together Cassie begins to individualize her questioning of various family members and those living in the community. Knowing that the kidnappings were related and that someone was working both sides still did not yield the answers that were needed to bring Krissy home? What was the motivation for the first kidnapping and what about the second? Did one person orchestrate both?

Events change an a startling revelation is made as a woman named Lorna and someone close to Vera her grandmother named Linda turn out to be one and the same but what does this have to do with Felicity and her kidnapping and who is responsible for taking Krissy and why? Is Felicity alive? Is someone orchestrating this to make it look like her? Is she using Krissy as a replacement for what happened to her? As Marc and Ryan do some fancy high end hacking, and con jobs you won’t believe what they are able to pull off and what happens when the FBI and her Hutch part of the Special team assigned to the case find out that they are not always being kept in the loop. Her relationship might become tense. Hope might find herself a suspect since the kidnapper is a dead ringer for her.

The ending is heart stopping as the kidnapper is revealed, Krissy tries to escape and all of the teams, FBI, BAU, Forensic Instincts and the police come together to try and rescue this little girl but something goes awry and the kidnapper disappears and when she tries to take Krissy to another hideout and she is finally free where will she wind up? Will she be able to find her mother and will the team save her before the kidnapper runs with her? What happens is sad and might cause more than just a simple tragic ending to a family that won’t believe who wanted Krissy and why?

A flight through the woods, a little girl’s life on the line, a mother who is so desperate she might blow it all and a team so outrageous that you would want to join them in their quest as Marc, Ryan, Claire and her visions, Casey, Hutch, Grace his partner and Peg the head of the unit and Patrick Lynch join forces to along with the CARD team and many more to find one little five year old girl. But, the ending reveals that there is still a mob link in some way to the murder of Claudia Mitchell who worked for Hope before being fired. Will Ashley remain? Will she go back to her boyfriend? Will the mob go after Sam again or will Willis and Ackerman families finally live in peace and without fear? Author Andrea Kane brings to light the issues of betrayal, deceit, child abduction, the reason for amber alerts, the need for agencies to work together and share information as she reveals, unravel and cleverly creates a story about a young girl who disappeared twice! Who? Read the novel to find out and an ending that creates more twists and surprises than the cyclone ride in Coney Island.
