THE BOOK OF JUDAS: LINDA STASI
Roy Morton watches his father die and could care less that he’s gone. His father was mean and never approved or accepted the fact that Roy is a gay firefighter who grew up in a world that did not accept his sexual preferences. His father is gone and Roy seems like the likely suspect to have possibly killed him and journalist Alessandra Russo is about to have a dangerous life changing experience when she learns what he has inherited and the meaning of the Book of Judas. A single parent dealing with an infant son and having to create major news stories for her newspaper, she is caught between a rock and hard place when this major story that Roy drops right in her lap could not only cause her but her son to be in grave danger. Roy hated his father and in a sense he’s glad he’s gone but making it known he puts himself in direct line of the police wanting to question him. His father was a former bank manager in a bank in Long Island and within a safe-deposit box there was something worth at least ten million dollars. His father stole an ancient religious document that was found in the 1970’s and then vanished and then found its way into this box. The document known as the Gospel of Judas has some pages that are missing that explain the secrets to Jesus’ resurrection. But, where is the container or cylinder that these documents as his father explain that finding it and uncovering the secret is dangerous. But, for 10 million dollars Roy does not care about the danger and Alessandra gets roped into helping find it and uncovering the mystery. The documents are supposed to have the power as they are written to change the way those who are Christian understand and view the bible. But, as the summary states if they fall in the wrong hands When Alessandra winds up going to Israel thinking she is going to meet a priest that can open the cylinder and remove the 13 pages that would explain what so many want to know how interpret the Gospel of Judas and how these pages might illuminate questions about the resurrection of Jesus and his relationship to Judas plus finding someone to trust to help open it. Myles Engles is the one she contacts about the relic but things do not go as planned. The other key is the Voynich Manuscript, which would possibly link it all together. But, first she needed to find someone to watch baby Terry whose behavior seemed odd at times and the temperature in her apartment changed when strange things happened to the thermostat and the windows kept coming unlocked. Finally landing in Israel and leaving her child with her neighbors Dane and Raylene, something should have red flagged in her mind when dealing with this odd couple. They did have an ulterior motive and since her story was made public and written for all to see they might want these papers wanting to resurrect their dead son. Going to Israel turns out to create more pressure on Alessandro and a surprise waiting for her in her hotel room. Here is where things get dicey and more dangerous for her, her son and her entire family. Father Paulo claims that if she comes to Israel and brings the tube he can open it, interpret the codex and sell it for at least ten million dollars. But, his murder was the second and the person that greets her in her hotel room is the man she thought was dead: Pantera her son’s real father.
Morton’s papers were supposedly stolen abut in tact but did they really hold the secret to eternal life, or resurrection, or if used the wrong way set off an Armageddon making that Judas won because he had written words that had the power to destroy all of Christianity if no the world or to save it? Was it the ravings of a mad man? Jesus according to what Alessandro was learning shared with Judas things he never shared with others claiming that He, (Jesus) did not come from earth. More research is explained and other information is shared about Jesus, the Last Supper and the disciples on pages 176- 183.
For a long time Alessandra thought that Yusef Pantera was alive so why was he holding up in her hotel room? Thus begins an unholy alliance when she realizes that Terry is with the Judson’s and that her parents have yet to arrive from Africa and then things spiral downhill when she learns they have been using her and her friendship with them to steal the cylinder, the manuscript and the key to eternal life. Those pages he tells her may contain the most dangerous information imaginable. Going all over Israel, learning more about the code that might be behind what they are looking for to unlock the secrets that no one has been able to figure out something happens and one video and one phone alerts her that her son is in grave danger and might be down below a train station and that if she does not give his kidnappers the cylinder and the key he will die at their hand. Reading chapter 34 you can feel the tension, see the underground and realize the danger Terry is in. But, when facing the kidnappers something snaps in Alessandro when she realizes who the mastermind was that wanted the papers and that someone she thought she could trust might have betrayed her. Raylene and Dane came face to face with her and Pantera was there every step of the way and when they finally made the exchange lives would end and would the child survive?
A startling comment that the author inserts when Alessandro thinks that the man who got away in the Fedora hat has the fake papers thinking she traded her son for them But, they were not fake and did this man really have the secret to eternal life?
Replete with research that will make you question the veracity of the papers, the truth behind their meaning and what Jesus’s message was to the Christian people and the meaning of the number 13 at the Last Supper, author Linda Stasi has penned a novel that takes us back in time before Jesus was crucified and whether Judas took the rap fro him and was he really the worst man on earth and considered the devil?
Miracles do happen when Roy’s bail is paid but who paid it remains a mystery. Pantera’s role in helping to keep her save and coming to the hospital to see his son makes you wonder if he will remain in their lives when this is over. Chapter 36 is all telling and you will learn how the code and the answers relate back to the Dog Star and Sirius. Were Judas and Jesus somehow identifying Sirius as the star where human creation began?
An ending that takes us all back to the time of Jesus, his alliances, his allegiances and to the thirteen present at the Last Supper. What is the final fate of the 13 pages and the key? What happens when we learn where they finally wind up? Who paid Roy’s bail and what happens when you learn the hidden truth? As the cover states: Will the discovery of the missing pages of an ancient book mean the end of the world? The only way you will find out is to enter the pages of this book, join Alessandro on her journey to learn the truth, dealing with the son’s kidnappers and learn the hidden secrets beneath the rotted pages and those preserved that can be read on the internet of THE BOOK OF JUDAS!
