Guilty Pleasures: Lady Jane Sinclair
A box of Godiva chocolates, caviar, silk sheets, scented candles, chocolate cheesecake and what about breakfast in bed with blueberry pancakes, real maple syrup and French toast! But, sometimes the pleasures that a young woman wants does not mean food, drinking or shopping for that extra piece of diamond jewelry you have always coveted. Lilly Peters is an intern in a hospital whose bills are huge and is paying for her grandmother’s senior assisted care center fees. So, some young women like Lilly have decided that their pastime or guilty pleasure is what some would say is the Oldest Profession in the World except it’s masked or called being an escort when we all know that’s just a front for the real deal or prostitution. Lilly loves become part of Guilty Pleasures the escort service she works for and Rayna her boss loves having her as one of her most sought after escorts. Lilly’s first encounter was with someone named Nick but Lilly seemed to get too attached to him and from the start and after Nick she realized that she can do this job but can she divorce herself from getting too caught up with these strangers and not falling for one of them?
Her passion was to be a doctor and she loved it but exhaustion would hit her as an intern and the hours were grueling but she seemed to thrive and even after shifts found the energy for more clients. These clients paid her money, which was the backbone, or how she paid for her grandmother’s care. Juggling two jobs was like living two separate lives with two different personalities one for day and another for night. But, Lilly was just one of many interns and residents that worked for Rayna. Meeting Ben Charles was unexpected and no red flags went off and it was an immediate attraction from the start. Things change after a while and Lilly develops a rhythm of her own and we learn more about her life as a doctor but the authors reveal her love for her night job but throughout it all you begin to wonder if she did not have to pay for her grandmother’s care if she would have chosen this as her second profession.
Sam Sheridan was someone new to her and something about him was different and their romantic interludes are graphically described that I bet some readers would love to be in Lilly’s place and enjoy this guilty pleasure for her. Ben Charles comes back into her life but so does someone close to Rayna, Elizabeth Lawrence married to Oliver Lawrence and quite wealthy. Something about her sends off red flags and as you get to know her you the reader will realize that not everyone or everything is what they appear to be. Things go smoothly until they don’t and Rayna informs Lilly that three girls were seriously injured and would not be working for a while if at all. Elizabeth seems concerned but is she and who would target them and why so rough? Elizabeth is powerful and when Jake is summoned to her office and reveals that he had to go along with Ben for whatever reason you realize that she is cruel, cold, calculating and conniving and has the feelings of a solid iceberg. Someone shot Rayna and she is fighting for her life. Lilly is upset and yet is trying to work her shifts at the hospital called in when there is a staff shortage or more emergencies. But, the scene that endears her the most is the one with her grandmother Laura in assisted care. Ben Charles makes a fatal mistake when agreeing to meet someone and Rayna is declared deceased. Meeting Elizabeth we learn just how cruel and shrewd she is and the hold she has on Lilly but will she allow her to threaten her and will she allow herself to do her bidding in the future when she realizes that working for Guilty Pleasures might be a big mistake? Added in one of her clients dies and leaves her money to open a clinic but she has to give up her second job and use the money to open a clinic of her own: Choices are made throughout the novella and life in which direction will Lilly steer hers?
The issues brought to light are trust, deception, betrayals, loyalties, family love, revenge, murder and sacrifice. What was behind Elizabeth and what role did she have with Rayna? Going to her favorite bar and talking with Jacob her favorite bartender he realizes that Lilly is in trouble and as a friend what he does gives readers faith that not everyone is after her for the wrong reasons. Jobs are in jeopardy, lives are at stake and one woman thinks she holds all the cards and Lilly might be trapped in a life she might want to escape. When things get blown out of proportion and Lilly realizes that Sam might be the real deal what will her final fate be? What twists and surprises do the authors spring on readers that you won’t expect? What will the final fate of Guilty Pleasures be and will Lilly be a slave to Elizabeth’s wishes? Choices have to be made and Lilly has to decide once and for all: Doctor or Escort! Just when you think you know the answers and the truth behind the violence, murder and attempted murder you won’t get the motive and who orchestrated and why? Filled with suspense, tension, humor and hope for one young intern to find her truth path in life this novella says an has it all. An ending that will make all young women, teens and adults think twice before joining those on the streets hooking or those who are paid escorts. Everyone has Guilty Pleasures: WHAT ARE YOURS?
