To Be a 7th Day Adventist Christian: Michael A. Jones PHD
Inspirational, inspiring, with lessons that each one of us needs to learn and teaching everyone to remember that “God’s plan for us is that one day we’ll become a citizen of a sinless society.” Wouldn’t it be nice to end the suffering, confusion and temptation and sin? In a world where we hear so many hate, violence and destruction on the news and see in the streets the words within the pages of this book will help you plan for your life, as well as God’s reasons for granting you, the most powerful element of His creation: the power of CHOICE! As I guide your through the many teachings and lessons I will focus upon what I learned and what I feel everyone needs to learn from reading this book.
Is working harder and more hours everyday make you more financially prosperous? People that focus on this mindset as related in chapter one of this book over time tend to suffer from fatigue, stress, additional mental and physical stress and some even experience a substantial decrease in quality time spent with friends and family. As a result you might not only lose and ignore time with family, friends but drift from your relationship with God. Within the remainder of this enlightening chapter author Michael Jones explains why the promotion at last might be great yet in his case he struggled to meet financial obligations and that he was able to meet. But, as a result of his managerial promotion the prime requirement was to be available 24/7. He explains his conflicts and how he became worried about his blatant disregard for Gods’ command. “Remember the Sabbath to keep it holy? Explaining his struggle and sharing it with readers will definitely help you to find your own path back to honoring Gods’ commandment. He elaborates by explaining What is the significance of the Sabbath and How important to god, is keeping his laws. The remainder of this chapter will explain more about the Seventh Day which is a sign between us and God plus reasons for mixed observance and the 6 proven success methods to obtaining bonus blessings the seventh day includes:
1. Follow Gods’ work schedule
- Invest in Spiritual treasures
- Better opportunities
- Take a firm but elegant stance against working on the 7th day
- Develop action steps and finally 6: allow transformation to take place
Chapter 2 is titles 7 Habits of Highly Successful Christians. Success the author states can be categorized into two types: Material and Spiritual Success. The seven successful habits include the Habit of Praying without ceasing, the Habit of Loving without condition which is defined by having the ability to love someone despite existing conditions which very often can prevent one form engaging in sincere love for another, is perhaps the most difficult habit of the seven steps to accomplish. One that many find hard is The Habit of Forgiving Others and engaging the habit of forgiving others who have from time to time given us reasons to be angry to the point where we sin, plays as vital role, and I agree, in the development process of obtaining spiritual maturity. Number 4 is something I feel that everyone needs to focus on especially teaching children and teens: Habit of Profanity Free Speech. The next is the Habit of avoiding evil and finally The Habit of combining fasting with prayer. Chapter 3 is one that everyone needs to focus on and read and that is the Benefits of Managing Finances in God’s Way. Here are the 8 principles that are shared and I read this over several times and I will try and commit them to memory:
Dismiss the deal that you own the money or property you have acquired.
Systematic tithing and offerings, redefine lifestyle choices, (Pay off all your debts as quickly as possible.) He includes and these are important to help you financially: Five steps to the war on debts as well as the disadvantages of co-signing for others. Something most people do and should try to avoid: Buying on impulse rapidly corrodes finances and dangers of spending in anticipation of Future Earnings. Something people often do is try and spend to keep up with The Rich and Famous. I will leave Chapter 4 to you to learn will you be ready when God Returns? Chapter Five What are the major beliefs of 7th day Adventist Christians? First he defines Who are the Adventists? What are their major beliefs: Scriptures, Salvation, Sanctuary, The Holy Sabbath, Second Coming, Spirit of Prophecy and State of the Dead. The Chapter that I found really compelling and vital for good health is the one that focuses on A Biblical Diet Approved by God. God created people, He, in his holy words, as the author states on pages 75-76 gave a specific set of food groups safe for consumption, ones which contributes to the healthy functioning of our bodies. He is the only creator. He knows exactly what is best for our bodies and its many organs. Read this chapter and learn which land animals are approved food, which marine animals are approved for food, which birds are approved, which insects are approved and finally which animals are not approved.
Everyone at one time asks this question: Why bad things happen to good people? I know I ask them very often when something goes wrong. Chapter 7 explains how we need to handle this issue in detail. God sometimes allows bad things to occur. A reminder that we all need to remember is that he is always in charge. For his glory the author shares he allows it and we sometimes attract bad things finally something we need to realize is that we at times BLOCK our BLESSINGS From GOOD things. His final words include Gods’ Attitude toward those he loves. “Gods’ plan was and still is for all of mankind to co-exist on earth living in harmony with each other, and enjoying the gift of communicating together in one language, despite genetic pigmentation which in many instances causes variance in skin color, eye, hair or other characteristic features.” He ends the book with a special prayer for everyone but reading this final chapter will hopefully bring us all together to live in unison as one.
“ May Gods’ peace. His unlimited favors and blessings be upon you always and forever. Please pray for me knowing that I’ll be praying for you always.”
This is a valuable book and definite resource to help everyone whether you are a 7th Day Adventist or not to learn some of the important ways you can live your life without certain financial stress, forgiveness is important and learning that we are all put to live as one. “ The bottom line and I quote is that we cannot claim to love God and speak poorly of others, but we should let our speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt.” Listening to the news everyday and reading many reports this is something that maybe everyone needs to address in their own lives and realize its value. Striving to eliminate prejudice with Gods’ help because it is sinful and distasteful to him. Finally and most important: In Gods’ eyes were all one people. Author Michael A. Jones has given all of us much to think about and learn. This is an important book for everyone and the messages are clear and valuable.
