You’ve heard of Ghostbusters but I bet you never heard of tax busters a group of IRS agents that will beat down your door take what they want and you’ll be lucky to have anything left. Just try and con these guys. Don’t dare take too many deductions or try to pad them so you yield more in your return. Wait until you meet these guys you’ll be begging for mercy. Mark Douglas who is now an IRS agent with a sarcastic and profane sense of humor decides to go up against a gang of government sanctioned revenuers and makes sure to get all of the back taxes using any method he chooses. Checks, cash, money orders anything that will fulfill the bill including anything that the person has of value!
Watch as you read the first scene and see what happens when he and his Tax buster friends knocked down the door of one man and well you have to see it or read it to believe what happens but this sets the stage for much more to come.
Meet Lila who is smart and unfortunately too efficient as she finds something during a routine exam of a set of 1040 forms.
At times you wonder which side these guys are on as their vocabulary is brash, crass and does not fit the stereotype of an IRS agent by any means. Each member of this unusual team has his own specific features and characteristics. Collecting taxes seems to be sideline at times to the antics in bars and their wild and zany escapades. Watch what happens when they to the home of some unsuspecting man and take enough property and money over 6000 dollars. Imagine being attacked by a flying toilet and what happens to Miguel is priceless. Wooly Bob is scary and slightly afraid of Harry. Mark thinks of himself as an accountant that gets to do what other don’t but I wonder if IRS agents today would like to join their group. Lila takes center stage in the second chapter. Running the department and definitely alluring in her own way, she is smart, astute and understands the innermost cogs or every wheel of the IRS and could calculate tax codes at warp speed. But, what happens to all of the members of Mark’s squad and Mark when she is killed? Mark shows wear and tear when he clocks out after over drinking tequila. Bent on finding out who killed Lila he and his team forge ahead with the help of Henry and the police force enter her apartment and have Waldo the magician open the safe and what they find could fill a Sotheby’s and be sold for millions at auction. Checking into her files he realizes that there is a link to a Mongolian mob. Juju Klondike is involved and his link to the mob after researching what she might have found leads them in all different directions. Mark is defiant in many ways and his FBI friend Juarez wants his help to make some headway with finding out who killed Lila but he is bent on doing it himself but not before he is now placed in her position. The Bang Squad comes to his aid but they are truly a unique and odd compilation of investigators. Bad taxes are their game and getting it anyway they can but first they need to deal with whoever killed Lila. Mark is determined to find the killer but first he has to form a plan to deal with a Saudi sheik, plutonium enriched cows and Cabbage if you won’t to believe it a magician who can crack any safe. But, one of my favorite characters is FBI agent Tightass who seems to have Mark’s number and does not put up with his attitude.
Mark is now promoted but it seems he is burying himself in as much alcohol that anyone can consume at one time and his friendship with Devon, the assistant to Waldo seems to be blossoming but things have to turn back to solving the murder and dealing with two brothers, Desmond and Rodney who are guilty of more infractions than most and could spend years in prison unless the cooperate with Mark holing he will lead him to the hit man and the Mongolian Mob which seems to be at the heart of the violence and has been smuggling weapons grade plutonium into our country. Some of the scenes are quite comical and others get serious but you often wonder why we lose sight of Lila until Mark reminds himself of his primary goal and his tasks to get tax evaders. The Mongolians owned a restaurant and Mark learned that they were hired to take out Lila but with the help of Desmond, his mother and his not so smart moron brother Rodney, they hoped to pull off a sting that will definitely be the most original you have ever witnessed. The author explains two types of immunity and of course many criminals hope they can pull off a deal. When you meet Eredenetungalag and her husband Paul you wonder if they will ever get caught and when they do you won’t believe the take down and how Mark and his bang squad pull it off but not without sarcastic comments, humor and some unusual methods that you might never see in real life but in the world of the IRS and Mark’s you never know what to expect.
The scene with the Sheik and his explanation of the surgery and the penal replacement is priceless and you wonder why anyone would do this but the Sheik swears by the surgeon and his ability to help those no longer endowed.
An ending that is right out of a Laurel and Hardy movie or even Abbot and Costello as Mark and the Bang Squad come up with a unique and painful method of taking down the mastermind and the person who dared to kill Lila.
Some endings are painful to the perpetrator but if this one does happen it would be more well explosive and the rest you have to witness for yourself because you just won’t believe how they try and hopefully succeed taking down someone that thinks he’s home free. But the hero of this story is well read the last few pages and you decide just how smart a non-human can be. The ending reminds us of just what the Bang Squad does and watch out for those that collect cards that are worth something make sure you pay your taxes on time, don’t fudge or you too might hear a sharp knock on your door, several scary faces coming in and you might be the next victim of Death and Taxes or Death or Taxes and learn more about the Tales of one BAD ASS IRS AGENT named Mark Douglas.
Filled with humor, antics, hijinxs and surprises you won’t expect just what will these guys and Mark now promoted to a higher position do to make sure the government never loses and you well PAY UP! Author Mark Zaslove lets readers know in this unique and unusual way that the IRS ALWAYS GETS THEIR MONEY AND YOU CAN’T HIDE IT!
