Watch the Girls

Watch the Girls: Jennifer Wolfe

Liv Hendricks has to reevaluate her life and her career options. Once we’ll known for starring in a TV series with her sister, she now has to decide in which direction to go since the station fired her. Deciding to create her own Internet show she goes online and logs on to the crowdfunding site and gives her pitch to find backers for her project. Offering to investigate for the highest bidder she receives a proposal that will send her into an investigation of four missing women. Her backer is a wealthy filmmaker and the area the Dark Road where four women disappeared and have never been found is where she is asked to investigate. Fired for an interview that caused too much negativity Liv decided to create her own show. Filming on Dark Road would be a dangerous challenge and going to Stones Throw where it all takes place will enlighten her to the films of the Red Stranger, her backer or Jonas Kron.

Getting friendly with the owner of the inn where she was booked and hoping to get some information about several locals, Liv finds herself going a little too far with Porter. Things change between her and Gemma as she seems to a gone off somewhere not returning her calls even though she seemed to want to help her in the investigation. Emails that seemed to come from one of the victims, a wolf’s mask in Gammas car and then is stolen. A fire in the woods was it properly investigated and a sheriff that wants Liv gone until he doesn’t. The festival coming and Jonas Kron appears with his son Soren directing the films would Liv give away his connection and whose initiating the negative tweets and why?

Anders and his wife do tours and their son creates the masks but when Liv asked about the fire in the woods why did his wife get angry? Something unsavory brewing there!

Gemma seemed to be the one Anders liked yet only there for the festival and wanting to learn more about dark road and then breaking into Gemma’s car and leaving the mask and then stealing it. Someone broke into Liv’s room and who was the man in the mask at the cottage. The email that said follow the white wolf and the man in the woods and Gemma disappearing the first time how did these connect?

Sharing information with the sheriff she hoped to get a hold of one of the victim’s files. Reading Annika’s file she learns about the fire and her burns. Deciding to join the search party to find Gemma led her to the Larsen’s house and snooping. Their son spotted her and their conversation revealed information about the fire and the wolf in the woods.

Someone is manipulating the events and Liv falls prey to someone’s devious plot and one part of a diabolical plot comes to light as jealousy and acceptance are part of what someone wants Liv to feel and hopefully suffer her pain too. But a simple comment leads her to realize who took the four girls but what reason and what part does Kron’s films play?

Filming events and creating a special showing what you will view will shock readers as the past is revived and revenge plays a huge role as Liv comes face to face with her past her fears and in the present the person behind the mask at the window the person filming her and a manipulator so devious that someone close will not see it coming until it’s too late. Sisters at odds. One gone yet not forgotten. Annika where is she and a plot so intricate so on the edge of fantasy yet someone’s reality whether real. A plot created and Liv who tends to be headstrong and even when realizing that she might be in danger she reenters the Dark Road or Dag Road to find the answers she thinks are hidden beneath the trees, woods or in a house of horrors. She is relentless in her pursuit of some type of justice whether for herself or the other girls that she feels were used in these films and their fates yet to be uncovered.

Betrayals, deceptions, disloyalties, revenge, hate, films that would haunt Liv and readers as you read them or watch the movie during the night and her nightmares become realities. Liv Hendricks will have to decide who and what to believe. Someone claimed to want her to find Annika but just who was this someone? What role did Jonas Kron play and what hard facts about those close to him will she learn? Films can create illusions and scenes that are so realistic they might haunt you forever. Someone wants to take Liv and destroy her why? Who? When the truth comes out and she sees it on the screen as everyone else does what will the final outcome be? Fired because of an interview that aired and then a final reveal at the end. Will Liv Hendricks return to filming, investigating, and acting or will Liv find another path? Flashing back and forth from 2003 to the present, Olivia Hill aka/Liv Hendricks reminds us how she barely survived a car crash with Miranda and Gemma her two sisters and that Miranda disappeared. The issues focused within this novel deal with how women were and are portrayed in movies and how they are viewed at times in a demeaning role and manner. The first scene where she allows an interview to take place and it goes viral gets her released from the station and her action job which led her to the embark on the crowdfunding web series and having someone claim to back her to find the missing four girls on Dark Road. Jonas Kron was a famous horror film director and since she decided to do crowdfunding her biggest backer asking her find out what happened to these missing girls leading her to Stone’s Throw. Gemma is not all that she appears to be and the final scenes will allow readers to truly understand the meaning of sisterly hate. Staring with Gemma in 2003 on the teen detective show, yet Gemma feeling that she was hidden in the background and then on the show Bullsh—t Hunters which turned out to be great at first and which Liv Hendricks is the co-star and she and four of her friends investigate some creepy thing and uncover the fraud. But, the email from someone called Red Stranger started it all at the start of the novel and then things spiral so far out of control you begin to wonder who to believe, did Jonas Kron really back her? What really happened to Gemma when she disappeared? What happened in their pasts that set off the horrific events in the present? The film The Girl and the Wolf well watch you and discover the untold truth for yourselves. Author, Jennifer Wolfe created Liv Hendricks through the eyes of several camera lenses but that one is the real Liv and which one will each reader, see?

Living in the shadow of others more than one character vies to be heard recognized and seen but when the truth behind the abductions is revealed what will you see when the final scene is filmed and on the screen?

Liv films in secret, tweets from some that sends her in all directions trying to uncover the person’s true identity and an ending so unreal, so surreal and so jam packed with suspense, the unknown, twists and one huge surprise and curve ball that you the reader will have to take note as you wait for the camera to roll, watch the footage and WATCH THE GIRLS? What do you see on the silver screen and just what changes should be made within the film industry when a female character is the star and some feel that they are exploited for their looks, being naïve, falling prey to the wiles of others and just as Gemma wanted to be a STAR! What is the price of stardom? How far will someone go to be the one noticed and does Liv really fall short of her own expectations? Read this powerful novel filled with glamour, horror, wolves that would destroy you when they get your scent and someone who just wants to tell Liv’s story but you won’t believe how or why! A powerful novel with so many messages that young girls wanted to go into acting might think before embarking on a career after reading this novel.
