Sometimes poor Barney gets roped into situations out of the goodness of his heart or the fact that the money would help. When Saul Flockman requests his help to find out if his wife Wanda is having an extra martial affair with her agent in order to get a part in his movie, Barney reluctantly goes to the one place he hates more than anything or anyone in the world: Los Angeles! Things spiral out of control but with the help of Melodie Seaver his hot driver, he’s able to infiltrate many places but when she is on a stake out with him and Moon is breaking into Kerner’s office for information about the movie and Saul’s wife, Melodie witnesses a murder and things become dangerous and out of total control for both of them.

The police bring her in and Barney has to do some fancy talking to get her out but with reminding Detective Santos about certain information he has things take a different turn but he’s far from out of the woods. Things spiral out of control when the victim is identified as Phyllis Carridi the wife of mobster Angelo. Learning more about the movie and the two Agents/Producers we realize that the script has been redone and rewritten several times and the true meaning or hidden agenda behind the movie and the end result will shock readers and Barney as well as he manages to hack into certain computers and learns more than he should. With the mob down his back, the police and ADA after him Barney faces definite or an unsure future if he stays alive.

Learning more about Irwin Kerner his relationship with Phyllis and another woman named Bette Whiting there is a secret that has yet to be revealed, blackmail money paid and bank accounts including Kerner’s that seem to be fattened. The premise behind the movie is scary as it deals with a terrorist attack in Las Angeles that seems all too real and you wonder if it might just not be a movie but reality.

Seeing the headlines and realizing the gravity of the situation and remembering that Jonah Whiting could not understand why he had to create stage directions for a screenplay and the title alone of the movie plus the fact that it might not be fiction, scared Barney and now he needs to decide what to do realizing that the Angelo did not kill his wife but who did or is there something we still don’t know?
Hector Quellar meets Barney Moon and he explains that he is looking into Irwin Kerner and checking him out. But, Hector is skeptical and not sure how much he should tell Barney if anything. Hector reveals that his movie is a SciFi in the year 2029 and space aliens do a terrorist attack on Los Angeles and it is accidentally broken up by a bunch of Hispanic Kids playing virtual computer games. But, what about the Feds working undercover on the side for a film company? Did they steal his movie and his script? Then, Barney gets kidnapped, beaten up by one of Carridi’s henchmen and then let’s recap that Saul Flockman’s wife is in deep with Kerner still hoping to get a part but what about Miz Carridi’s murder. With the help of Melodie’s boyfriend Woot and his computer skills things are revealed, information is received and then we learn something about Jonah Whiting that changes the picture and might help him come out ahead but will Barney’s information help him or will things get even more tense?
Lucca Pantello is the man who beat up Barney and for almost a year the cops thought that he was stealing money from his boss due to the fact that he has offshore accounts. But, wait until you learn more! Ganell Films and Jonah Whiting what is their connection and what kind of terrorist plot are they creating in their movie and why do they have Jonah writing different pieces to create the plot and blow up a building- an office tower in downtown LA. Emails tell part of the story and he referred to one of the pieces of the screenplay that was included in an email from Ganell Films to Jonah. Things get wild and you learn more about the Agents who use alter egos: Hogan/Rogers is one and the other is Lippet/Maxwell. While Barney hopes to return to New York he gets called into the station by ADA Helsing who seems to know that he was snooping in Kerner’s office and wants him arrested for breaking an entering but the door was unlocked. Santos and O’Hara listen to his ideas and the Prosecutor comes up with Witness Protection for Barney thinking he might have to hide from the mob. Things change quickly, plans are revealed and Barney comes up with something write out of the Keystone Cops or an episode Barnaby Jones Private Detective. Author Thomas B. Sawyer created a plot filled with humor, hijinxs, cons, surprises and so creatively created you won’t see the ending and neither will the one person who thought he might never get caught. Just what were they planning if anything to blow up? What was the real plot they created or shall I say Barney created to help not only Jonah, Kerner and even the wacko agents? One of the agents has a girlfriend named Tammy Fairland that wants a major part in the movie an actress wannabe. What is the connection between these Homeland Security guys and the film?

When all of the players come together and Barney is faced with a gun pointed at him how will he explain his ingenious yet insane plan to bring all parties together starting with George Lippet and his partner Vincent Rogers. Would Barney call the police or will everything turn out well you have to see it to believe it and be a part of the final action. When they see the final scene, realize who else is involved namely these gang members Cory, Pete and Esteban will they blow the deal and who will come out with the big bucks? When Barney figures it out and realizes who killed Carridi’s wife and who might be next and why will the ADA and Santos and O’Hara believe him? Right out of an episode of the Rockford Files or even Starsky and Hutch, author Thomas Sawyer created an ending that will shock readers, filled with slapstick humor, fun, surprises and at the end will Barney ever get to go home or will he be stuck in Los Angeles? Find out when you read this hilarious novel about one fantastic P.I. and one Melodie his driver who coordinate, procrastinate and are always late but what happens at the end well ask Barney Moon after you learn the final ending and the final scene of A MAJOR PRODUCTION! Barney Moon is authentic, zany, unique and definitely one of kind and the characters in this novel either you will love them or hate them but either way you’ll learn what happens when Barney’s on the case and will Saul ever get his money from Kerner and will he ever leave poor Barney alone to live his life in New York?
