America’s security and national defenses are about to be shattered and compromised. When someone close to the President decides to take hold of our secrets and is supposed to be guarding our national security but has other intensions in mind, what happens will lead President Jack Ryan on a quest to learn where the leak is coming from and yet its hiding in plain sight.
Amanda Watson heads up the IC CLOUD security system and is supposedly keeping a lock on it to make sure that no one steals our vital secrets. Lawrence Fung is her assistant but although he claims to be dealing with the same focus as Amanda in reality, he has other quests in mind and has funneled our important information to someone elusive called CHIBI.
The President wanted a military base in Poland and Senator Deborah Dixon foiled it. China is our biggest threat and when looking closer into her it’s possible that she sold out for a bigger pay off and to the Chinese. There is much more as Amanda Watson has a new ICCLOUD project which would insure our national security but in order to convince the President and Mary Pat Foley the National Director of Security to buy it, she needs to put a worm in the system and create a problem using the technology she created to solve it. Betrayals are all around.
Jack Ryan Jr. is being sent to Poland as a financial analyst at Hendley Associates to learn whether there is a connection between Poland and China’s Belt and Road Initiative.
Things turn more dangerous as bandits strike different places within Angola and other areas and someone high up wants to know why his nephew was killed, the reasons for the attacks and who was behind them. Added in Jack Ryan Jr. is now in Poland looking into a company affiliated
Liliana Pilecki is outstanding at what she does, and her goal is to protect and take Jack Jr. wherever he needs to go. But things take on a difficult turn as each step of the way things happen and the outcome is a confrontation with those that have been hired to follow Jack, take him out and hopefully eliminate him from the equation. Added in he must fulfill a wish for a friend that made a deathbed request and the way it’s handled brings him closer to the end of his rope and more. Both Jack and Liliana find themselves in the crosshairs of those that are trying to infiltrate our national security and some that have been hired just to follow Jack but why?
Amanda Watson and her partner Elias Dahm must prepare for the TechWorld conference, but he seems distracted and there is too much at stake if they do not get the contracts they need. But, hidden beneath it all there is someone controlling the outcome of what will occur. CHIBI is creating an algorithm key that will be bid on at an auction in London and this would take away our national security and the result would be that four countries would have this key and be able to spy on us without our knowledge.
Jack Ryan and Liliana are tracking down Stapinsky hoping to learn more about Christopher Gage and his alliance with this bank. Both men involved with the bank and the Czech personally along with strict orders to keep tabs on Jack and not harm him but not everyone follows the rules. Watson in the meantime is in her office and seems to sense that something is off with Fung. Reading pages 304-306 you get a sense of Fung’s ideology and the fact that something about him does not sit right. Emails to CHIBI you begin to understand that he is not on the up and up and although he wants to disengage from this person he cannot. Gage is connected to OstBank and he’s invested in warehouses and distribution. But what is he hiding? Searching the Gage warehouse and hoping to learn more they want the connection to Baltic General Services. Behind it all is the Iron Syndicate whose branches far reach anything that they can control and as each part of it might be taken down it does not mean that there are more hidden somewhere else. They are dangerous, deadly and their goal is to take down our National Security and even more kill many innocent people.
Hidden in plain sight is another company SpaceServe which is part of what Elias and Amanda own and when you learn what her goal is and how they both hope to snag a big deal with the government you begin to wonder just what is behind their company and what she is really trying to do. With Mary Pat Foley wondering just who she can trust, and someone using her computer without her knowledge, added in CHIOBI and others like the Czech who might get access to our software and our data without our knowing it, this is just the tip of a very dangerous and deadly operation.
With Amanda looking over her shoulder, and Jack Jr. and Liliana placed in a dangerous position someone decides to not just look for them but take them out. Tragedy hits, Jack Jr. fights for his life and someone close to him loses it all.
Mary Pat Foley takes center stage when realizing the seriousness of what CHIBI has created . Even more chilling is the source. Confrontations can be illuminating and when faced with her adversary Mary Pat takes it up a notch. The surprise twist leads to another as Jack Jr is in trouble and John Clark and the team Ned to hopefully save him as Chulet wants to take him down, but will he?
CHIBI invites three countries and the Iron Syndicate to bid on a mater key that will help them entrance to our intelligence. Iran, Russian and China and the Iron syndicate are proof that this person holds the key to all our intelligence in the western world stored the community cloud.
Jack needs to connect his investigation to CHIBI and find out who this person is. Author Mike Maden steps up the pace at the end when the final scenes between Jack, John Clark and the one man who wants him taken down proves that he is not someone that you don’t want on your side.
Just what does that mean and what happens that changes the playing field you need to read this mystery, espionage, globally charged thriller to find out. Mike Maden/Tom Clancy more than a winning team. When the Campus and Hendley Associates team up and Director of Operations John Clark and their entire team work together the result is meeting the foes, taking them down and finding which ones are the ENEMY CONTACT. Wars are one but will this one be over at the end and what is the final count when all is said and done?
The final scenes are heart stopping as Senator Dixon and President Ryan face off and what’s revealed will change and heat up the climate as one stare senator learns what happens when betrayals greed and deceit are your platform and what’s behind the scenes comes front and center.
Jack Jr. is bent on taking down one person and the final scene and last sentence says it all . Fantastic book high energy electrifying and in Jack Jr’s words: ALL GOOD
This is one novel that seems ripped right out of our headlines. What would happen if there was a real CHIBI? Interesting and thought provoking as we hope that our national intelligence and our country never find out!
