Strands of Truth

Strands of Truth

Within this novel we will meet Harper Taylor and Annabelle her half-sister that she learns about through a DNA match. Harper has been through many tragic changes in her life and learning that her mother was killed when she was just born sent her on a search to find out who her father is and in doing that she learned about Annabelle. Oliver Jackson took her in when no one else would after her mother died and he gave her a job and a home that was stable. Ridge and Willow his own children resented her from the start and could not understand why he did not nurture them the same way and added in their mother left and the divorce left more than hard feelings.

Harper and Ridge would be placed in a tenuous situation when Oliver decided they needed to work together in his pharmaceutical company hoping that they would focus on research involving pen shell beds.

Events turn dangerous when Eric Kennedy insists that Harper move her pen  shell beds away from where he claims is sacred Indian grounds. Threats are yielded and she is attacked and Oliver when in the water has his oxygen line cut and winds up in the hospital. Someone is paying someone to take him out and kidnap either Annabelle or Harper and the voice claims one of them or both can save his son’s life but who and why?

Added in they are trying to find her father and things get dangerous when more attacks occur, Annabelle is kidnapped and her two sons one is a detective investigate what is happening and both are suspicious of Harper stating that things went sour when she turned up.

Oliver is in a coma and the hospital finally rallies him back to some sort of health when the voice on the phone instructs the person, he has hired to take down Oliver insists that he/she make sure he is silenced. This is where things get tense and Ridge must decide whether he can work with Harper to find the answers. Somehow, they find someone that knew her mother and gave her boxes of pictures and more of her and Annabelle gave her documents and clippings that someone wanted at any cost. The tension builds and Ridge and Harper realize that they need to form an alliance when Oliver’s fight with life ends and the autopsy and medical examiner declares his death a murder.
Both Harper and Annabelle’s mothers were murdered too and the link to why has yet to be revealed. Lisa, Harper’s mother lost her brakes in her car and she crashed. Annabelle’s mother was murdered too, and the result and the reasons why must tie in with their father in some way.

Greed, control, power, fear, suspicions and deceptions are at the heart of this novel plus Harper decided to adopt an embryo and might be having a child of her own, but will she share it with Ridge if they get close. With the aid of her friend Sara and her boyfriend Josh she is able to find out more about her half-sister and have help with finding someone named Kelly that knew her mother and shared some pictures and stories about her hoping that she will be able to find her father.

Harper things Oliver was an innocent victim caught in the wrong place when someone attacked her. But his murder would clarify that was not the case.

The will is read, and the bequests are handed down and Willow is livid and threatens to appeal because she did not get what she felt was her fair share. Greed was at the heart of her nature and yet Harper felt that she was hiding something from Ridge and when she finally opens what he does will surprise even Ridge.

Someone is out there, and Harper’s life is in danger as Ridge wanted to protect her but someone grabbed her, used a stun gun on him and now the search was on to find not only Harper but who was behind the murders of her mother and Annabelle’s too. With Scott, Annabelle’s son and Ridge searching through documents and films that might give them some hope of understanding who was behind the abduction, Harper was being kept in a secluded area and the end result of what this person planned might take not only her life but that of the child she wanted for so long.

When the pieces started to fit together and the truth about her father and his identity comes to light will Ridge get there in time before a diabolical killer takes more than just her life? Sometimes greed wins, other times jealousy can rule and the lives of two women taken when someone had a roving eye.

When the threads are finally woven and the strands are all in place author Colleen Coble created strong characters, a plot that is character driven, a story that will bring tears to your eyes and hope in your heart as the ending will shock readers. Will Ridge and his mother ever find some common ground? Will Willow be happy with what he gave her or want more? Will Ridge realize that Harper is the right one for him and will Harper and Annabelle become more than just sisters but friends too?
A story that is realistic and a story that ends when the final scene proves what happens when you understand and learn just what are the STRANDS OF TRUTH.
