Lost tomorrows

Lost tomorrows

A simple night of passion, an indiscretion and a betrayal that would cost him his freedom and his life. Sometime we do this in the heat of anger or excitement thinking that our actions will go unnoticed or seen. Rick Cahill receives a phone call that will set off a chain of drastic and challenging events that will either remake him as a person or destroy him forever.

Leah Landingham calls Rick telling him his former partner Krista was murdered. Knowing he was implicated in his own wife’s murder, attending this funeral arises anger, threats and definitely not a welcoming committee.

A chance meeting and a request brings Rick into the crossfire of the Santa Barbara Police Department when Leah requests his help to investigate her sister’s death. Added in she enlisted Retired Detective Jim Grimes who handled his wife’s murder. Things get tense when the each present their own thoughts and working together brings them in conflict but will solving murders bring a truce?

Reviewing his wife’s case and hoping to get the notes that Krista had leads him to several sources. Who saw her body dumped and did this man actually see who did it?

A bartender named Dustin relates what he thinks happened the night Krista was killed so why does he believe his account and why isn’t this man totally sure?

Added in a neighbor of hers has videos that might illuminate the situation but first Rick and Jim take a closer look at Detective Tom Weaver, Krista’s ex- husband and Detective Mitchell who was on Colleen’s task force but seems to be covering for Weaver the night of her murder.

Allowed to take part in some of the meeting Rick and Leah form an alliance .

On the night of his wife’s murder two men were seen carrying something that appeared to be a body which they dumped on East Beach in the spot where she was found. Detective Weaver arrived at his home while Rick and Krista were in bed together. He would not admitting him and Leah what he saw or that he was there. Detective Mitchell claims he told him what he saw . Was Weaver really so drunk he wound up in the drunk tank? Was Mitchell covering for him?

Mike Richert claims to have seen and witnessed the facts just described on East Beach. True or false? Added in what was done to her body by the killers which hampered the DNA tests and the investigation.

What exactly did happen and why was Krista on State Street walking away from her car? Was he drunk as Captain Kessler claims? Dustin Peck the bartender supplied information was it the truth?

With Leah always at his side and Grimes putting obstacles in his path and his perspective changing regarding Weaver and Mitchell, author Matt Coyle takes us deep in to mind of Cahill, his thought processes, his diagnosis of the crime scenes and his conclusions. Grimes has more clout with the police department but something does not sit right with Rick but not before he makes a rash decision that would alter his life, give him justice for both Colleen and Krista but did he have it right? Impulsive, arrogant at times, snap judgements and harsh moves as the final revelations come to light and Rick has a moral and ethical decision but will the person he reaches out to finally listen? Who is guilty? Who wants him permanently out if the picture as a surprise twist , another murder and he comes face to face with the truth. The final scenes were vividly crafted, Rick falls prey to a phone call of distress and the conclusion will shock readers as the author created what appears to be a serious cliffhanger and unknown certainty for the future of Rick Cahill. Is Leah going to remain in his life. Is she the answer to moving ahead as he will never be able to recapture the past , unfortunately his fatal mistake and live those Lost Tomorrows.
