The Wife Stalker

The wife stalker
A tug of war has two people pulling a rope at both ends but only one will remain standing. Lives are fragile and some are taken but hidden truths and lies keep the secrets of some deeply buried. Piper Reynard decided to come to Westport and reinvent herself and begin a new life. Why? Opening a rehab and wellness center and joining a local yacht club she was right in her element. This Phoenix Recovery Center renamed Harmony Healing Arts was a thriving business that offered meditation, mindfulness , yoga, nutrition, and recovery programs. Piper was set but someone else on the other end of that rope would do more than fall.
Joanna Drakos thought she had a loving husband and two amazing children. Leo is a prominent attorney and suffered what appeared to be pours of depression. Evil and Stella their two young children adored her, and Joanna was supportive and understanding of Leo’s problems. Leo was depressed and learning about the rehab and wellness center, Joanna suggested that Leo try out a meditation class and learn more about the center. As the attorney for one of Piper’s clients it was easy for her to get close to him using the upcoming trial and the fact, she was going to be a witness as an excuse. Piper is more like a dangerous viper whose venom would destroy Joanna at any cost. But as we hear her voice and then Joanna’s we learn about her hidden past, the death of her last two husbands supposedly accidents plus the death of her stepdaughter too and the author weaves a tale of deception, deceit and fear within the reader because you don’t know which one to believe or trust.
As Piper finds ways to be alone with Leo and Joanna begins to wonder what is really happening between them yet blinded by her own thoughts that he’d never leave her something happens to turn it against her and in Piper’s direction. When her mother has an accident and needs surgery and she must care for her , Leo uses this with Piper’s manipulation to take control of the situation. Sending her belongings to her mother’s house, limiting her time with her own children, and making sure that she signed the divorce papers things take on a sinister turn.
Joanna loses it when Leo x’s her out of her own home and she realizes that Piper has won this round, but Joanna does not think clearly, at times she is rash and the result goes against her. Even calling Leo after she learns things about Piper’s past and telling him she is endangering his children does not yield the results she wanted. Even her therapist feels she needs to take hold of hers, move out of her mother’s house and find a place where the children can come and be with her, but her rationale is poor. Joanna at times seems unstable and her actions are quite bizarre and yet we feel her loss, but her children think she is gone.
Piper is smart yet dealing with Evie is easy but Stelli resents her and places obstacles along the way but Leo tries to handle them both but at times you hear Piper’s innermost thoughts and you wonder if she would harm Stelli as he has an accident that possibly could have been avoided and a sore throat that was more than sore that she chose to ignore.
Two strong voices each justifying her actions and thoughts but whose are genuine? Added in we wonder about Joanna and why she decided to reach out to Ava Dunn, Piper’s deceased husband’s wife and how she learned about his death and that if his daughter. This is where we begin to see the fine line between truth, reality, or delusion.
Stelli is smart and something about Piper rings false yet Evie tries to convince him that he must accept that Joanna is no longer there. But Joanna is relentless and will pull out all the stops to regain what she’s lost and yet her unsympathetic mother and her not so understanding therapist both feel she needs to get rid of the anger and revenge and hope the judge awards her some custodial rights so she can see her children but will she let up? Added in Piper has no changed what the children are allowed for snacks and lunches and some of the treats are debatable. Things appear to be tense at times, Leo still works late , Piper takes over done of the Nanny’s duties and convinces Leo that Stelli needs counseling.
Things take on a different turn when Stelli is hurt and then Joanna decides to follow Piper , confront an ex-wife and even Piper’s mother who is cold hearted and distant.
The family seems torn and Leo is caught in the middle, but a startling revelation sets the final downward spiral of either Joanna or Piper. Someone is living a delusional life, and someone is about to be enlightened but not before a child’s life is in danger. Piper claims to only want the best for her new family. Stelli has fears that need to be addressed and the truth about their mother will send chills down your spine and the final reveal comes to light with a twist you won’t see coming, a truth you did not know was there and another person will learn the hard way that it’s wrong to cross this determines psychopath that’s truly The Wife Stalker. Joanna VS. Piper! Winner takes all! A tug of war who is the winner and who winds up down? Who else does this person blame for what she did not have in her past? Acceptance, understanding, passion, love, family loyalty, hope, fears, loss, and revenge are just some of what is brought out in the mystery thriller.
