An eye for an eye, tooth for tooth and life for life are themes throughout this series as killers are free, homicides are investigated and no one is arrested. Joe Harlan Jr. was killed and mutilated by Roy Cruise with help from his wife and others. Roy’s daughter was killed by Liz Bareto hit by her car. Liz’s son Liam paid the price as someone added something to his IV in the hospital. Deb and Tom Wise’s daughter , Kristy was roses by JoeJr. His father a powerful Senator managed to get him off. Deb and Tom hired Roy to take him down but there were more unsolved murders yet to be closed.

Detective Eddie Garza and prosecutor Spencer Shaw have linked many pieces together against Roy and possibly Susie. Liz is bent on making her pay and a confrontation leads to shooting Susie who is pregnant and the end result after days in the hospital and in a coma Susie dies because Roy opts to save his daughter.

Things get tense as Mark Moran his lawyer demands that he come clean with the murder of Joe Jr. telling him the truth might be detrimental to getting him off if he admits to the murder. Added in just how did he and Susie pull off the death of a Congressman?

Lies, deception, betrayals and one witness Kristy Wise they hope would pull their case to a win.

The voice you hear throughout is the therapist that worked with both Roy and Susie. Revealing facts to us and explains that he cannot divulge anything to the police. Roy’s lawyer explains the process of how he will defend him but what Roy reveals is his fictional version of the events.

Garza’s case centers around the murder of Joe Harlan Jr. the mutilation of a dead human body, accessory to the murder of Liam Bareto, accessory to the murder of Ronald Clayton and charging him with the unlawful disposition of human remains – Harlan and Clayton. But Shaw thinks otherwise. The was arrested on two counts of murder and mutilation of a dead human body. But in the end will he go down? Sympathy from a jury because he lost his wife and now has a daughter to care for might play a large roll.

Rebecca Forsyth is a victim of her own bad choices. Marrying Alan would price disastrous and his business ventures deplete her finances. Buying a hotel he locked into a desk with a Madame and a close friend’s ideas and his poor judgment might come crumbling down on him and Rebecca if she does not rid herself of him.

Roy wanted the trial expedited and even though according to the law they are entitled to 175 days to prepare plus get the discovery documents from the other side, he chose to go to trial in 14 days. Will that be enough for his lawyer to prepare.

37 boxes were delivered to the defense attorney and the author explains trial procedure, how evidence I’d admitted or excluded and we are privy to what happens when the judge takes Shaw apart for playing games. We also learn more about his Roy manipulates his lawyer, the fact that Susie saved pieces related to the murder of HarlanJr. The evidence is puking up but at the end will Roy win or lose? Added in his lawyer finds another player who might be a witness to what Kristy will testify linking Bethany to her.

The trial begins and the opposition speaks out as Shaw and Moran give their opening statements which are in opposition of each other. Author J.K.Franko explains how a trial proceeds takes us inside the courtroom and allows readers to become part of the jury and the justice process.

The trial gets tense and Shaw leads Garza in his testimony but Moran is able to undo much of what he testified too. Added in Senator Harlan is next and which side will he be on after Garza explains what he found in the lockbox in the Cruise house and how the murder of Joe Jr only has Susie as a suspect.

Kristy testifies and the jury is stunned but a connection to her friend brings doubt in their minds as she relates how she communicates with some people. A verdict that is shocking another life is gone a therapist that is held in the balance and a final reveal you won’t believe. As the therapist relates her conclusions and Rebecca gives her a shocking message the series is far from over and the author gives us a slim glimpse of what’s coming next. What is Roy’s fate? What about the therapist and who will return when the series moves ahead? Fear, murder, revenge , deception, lies and betrayal as the author reminds us of what happens when a life is lost, murdered and you did something to me and I’ll do more if the same for you. A Life For Life! It’s only fair do you agree?
