Unlucky Charm

Do you believe in Demons? Can a body haunt you and remind you of something you did to it that caused it to die? Can a ghost or spirit turn up and leave you a message of impending death or doom? Can an object create torment and fear? 

Jared returns home for a two-week semester break from college only to get thrown into a situation involving his ability to see the dead, ghosts asking for his help, and an image that appears in his house that started it all. 

Jared tells his friend Adrian about the spirit and together they uncover her identity but how to proceed. When they uncover the identity of this woman we then learn that Aunt Maybelle receives an ethereal visit from her late mom telling her that Jared needs her help.

Zane and Reggie are best friends and decide to cut classes but you never know who might see you and yup they get caught. But Zane thinks it’s Old Man Hammond, who rats him out and plans to get even with him. This event from the past will destroy his future you won’t believe how. Reggie meets Lisa and they hit it off loving the challenge of games and getting to know each other. But an incident in a restaurant turns dangerous and later the same bullies go after both him and Lisa the ending is tragic in the past and the present you won’t believe what author Aiden Lucid has in store for both him and Zane. Zane plans his revenge waiting for Hammond to leave for bowling and the victim you will learn is Titus his dog. But just wait until you see what this act of revenge does to him years later. Lisa is killed by the bullies and blames Reggie. The catalyst for the events is a pocket watch that Zane buys for his mom and it’s cursed and possessed.

Madame Freya Farooq is the owner of the watch that was stolen and she’s a Voodoo Priestess the first to come to Hopps Town. As Zane tells Reggie he thought he heard Titus barking but the scenes get more powerful as this dog is dangerous even though dead and Zane will face his worst fears. Whereas Lisa comes back from the dead leaving Reggie messages and messing with his mind as the author takes us back in time and Reggie loses himself in the present when events cause him to have mishaps at work. Both are afraid and then Maybelle and Jared connect with them but will they be able to save them from the fate their pasts are threatening in the present. 

Jared and Maybelle meet with Zane and Reggie and place the pocket watch in a bag and then in a safe place in their car but will this be enough?

The scene with Titus is graphically depicted and the trembling hands and blood are real. As Reggie picks up the pocket watch and what happens to his hand is chilling. With his girlfriend, Monica helping him and Zane plus Jared and Maybelle the process for ridding them if Lisa and Titus are described but things spiral out of control. 

We meet Madame Farooq and hear what when says about the watch and want it back. Bad men took it from her papa and beat up her and kind people buried her. But Reggie is now more fearful as Lisa won’t give up and taunts him even more. Zane gets the attacker caught in his house and trapped by Titus what happens next could be tragic. Reggie finds himself trapped within his mind and the tragic result you won’t believe. Demon Lisa taunted Reggie through the oxygen and Zane tried to crawl away from Titus but was too guilty and weak.

The next scene will allow readers to know the final fate of both Zane and Reggie and you decide if justice was done or if too harsh. Guilthangs over Zane and Reggie and the ritual of placing a red rose 🌹 at Hammond’s grave and what about Lisa should stop the evil but it’s not over yet.

Zane realizes he needs to change and what better than an act of kindness that everyone today could learn from. 

Jessica and Jared are friends and she dealt with abuse from her mom, for a long time until they each got to understand and know each other better. Jessica speaks to Jared and we think she’s on her way back to school when someone a demon haunts her, fear and accusations about her mom, and the ending let us know there is much more coming for her but will she ask Jared for help? Someone was out to get her and Bertha her mom but who and why as author Aiden Lucid leaves readers ready for the next demon to arrive and hopefully destroyed. Told in many voices the demons, the teens, and Maybelle’s as author Aiden Lucid created characters that are haunted and plagued in the present by actions in the past. Teens can learn the consequences of their bad choices when revenge can backfire and hopefully make them think about the consequences before taking an action that as we learned in this story might create more than the curse of that unlucky charm.

Fran Lewis just reviews
