Murder is not a girls best friend

Murder is not a girl’s best friend

Diamonds are beautiful but would you love one that’s 117 carats D quality with no flaws? How far would someone go to own this or better yet steal it? Welcome to the conference where this diamond is the focus and how it will help the people of The African Democratic Republic. Mimi Rosen is there and Brandon Walters an activist is about to introduce Abraham Boasberg who will explain. Author Rob Bates has extensive knowledge about the workings of the diamond industry and we learn how deals are made and sealed.

Brandon presents Abraham who gives us and the auditor history behind ADR and what they are trying to do related to diamonds. We meet the Reverend who found it and what he okays to DJ with this 20 million-dollar find. But this would not be a murder mystery or filled with intrigue if someone was not killed.

Abraham Boasberg is our victim and Brandon is arrested. But first Mimi our investigator meets five people at the conference and all of whom will become involved in solving the murder she’s roped into investigating.

Throughout the novel, we get to know filmmaker Anita Vaz who wants to create a documentary around Brandon. We meet Morris Novak who is not the most scrupulous person but money talks. Rafi his stepson placed in a difficult position as Morris helped him in a difficult situation and his mother via his wife and Abraham his father.

Mimi decides to investigate and even manages to get into Novak’s office and we meet him up close. Things get tense, Mimi and Anita decide to team up so to speak to help out Brandon and why does Rafi get involved? Added in we meet computer genius Zeke who seems to like Channah who works for Mimi’s father.

The plot gets intertwined in many directions as Mimi breaks into the crime scene and finds something unusual. Hoping to get out before being found how does Detective Matthews find her and what is his reaction?

Rafi gets roped into leaking some information about Novak and then he’s attacked why and by who? No one is safe until the killer is found but Abraham had a contact who was also killed. Lies, deceptions, greed, power, and someone hiding in plain sight.

Meeting Sonia Novak brings information about Morris to light and just how far his power goes but you can only hide just so much until your secrets are revealed and your money is gone. Lives are at stake and Mimi is relentless and takes chances as she and several others face off with a killer. Reverend Kamera related his childhood and what he went through. The author explains how people in the ADR worked in the mines for 2 dollars and how if the diamond is sold will change it all. An ending that will surprise you and a former journalist and reporter who will revisit something she started before. Some endings are beginnings and others are conclusions as the fate of the diamond are revealed, how Rafi and Anita are involved, and where that leaves Mimi. Murder is not a girl’s best friend but diamonds.
