Will Sherlock be able to prevent her from being taken again? There are many factors to consider as Elson Grissom is a dangerous drug dealer, killer and powerful man who thinks he’s above the law. When Kirra and the commonwealth attorney throws her and Jeter a curve ball and decides to take the case and give it to another unit throwing the homicide unit under the bus. Emma is the piano prodigy and is far from safe. Her grandfather Mason Lord just remarried, and her parents are with her parents hoping to hear her play. But things get out of hand and Savich is hurt but Emma is okay but for how long. Molly her mother and Savich are taken but who is after them and why? There are two children of Grissom working for him and his daughter is diabolical and dangerous. Added in Kirra has information about someone connected to her parent’s death and the cost of her information is huge. Getting hypnotized with the help of her protector Garrett the author allows Kirra to go back in time and relive part of her childhood and what happened when her parents were killed. Who or what did she see? 

       There are many involved in this complex plot before Kirra learns who the voice was in the past that was responsible for the death of her parents. Added in there was a turf war between Mason Lord and the Shakers and when approached about where his daughter was and where Agent Savich might be the interaction was harsh and his wife is priceless. Ryman Grissom is part of the plot and Oliveras hired Ryman to kill Misha Misel the young woman who was with him. There is much more before all the threads are woven together by author Catherine Coulter. How will Molly and Sherlock  get away from the kidnappers? Will Mason get through to the Shakers? Are they responsible in any way? With Griffin as her partner, they devised a plan do out of the box to trap Melissa and her husband Jared Talix as it was her voice she remembers. But taking on the kidnappers Molly and Sherlock face some difficulties as Molly was drugged, injured and the head of this group was exploding. Rich Doulos had dreams of his own marrying the rich daughter of the Shakers. Eve was his ticket and would free his gambling debts, but Eve never saw it coming. She gave Rich enough to create his own plan and cut from the Shakers and hopefully align with Lord. One man dead, the women on the run and Savich wonders why Shaker and Eve were head to Palm Beach and Doulos to Maine. Never underestimate Mason.

An ending so well defined filled with tension, twists and surprises you won’t expect. What happens when Kirra faces off with Melissa and Jared? What happens when Eve learns the truth about Rich. Lives at stake and someone is critical, but will she make it? Lives hang in the balance. Will Kirra get justice for her parents? Will the war between Lord and Shaker end? Strong characters with diverse personalities adding a strong dynamic to the plot. Will Kirra and Griffin be back? What about Emma? What’s next for Savich and Sherlock? So many messages throughout the novel: revenge, justice, greed, power, family loyalty and pure love. 

The time when mistakes must be punished or paid for; a testing time when the degree of one’s success or failure will be revealed. It’s time to pay and those that are guilty will pay on the day of their Reckoning. Who pays? Read it and find out!
