Moonlight Runs
A landfill is totaled with rancid garbage that comes from just about anywhere. The smell is horrific and many who work their stink from it too. When three bodies are found by someone working in a landfill, died from the garbage they ingested, the police send Moonlight to investigate their murders. The sight of the landfill and who owns it will bring down the head of it Tony Fuscilli on Moonlight’s tail but not before he learns from the ME his bro Georgie the causes of the deaths of the three victims and learning more from two of the widows as all three were into something and all three down on their luck and needing money.
Lives are at stake but when he learns the causes of their deaths it brings Moonlight into the crosshairs of the person who owns the landfill. Moonlight is having an affair with the wife, a top cop of APD police force and the wife of the man who owns the landfill.
The Fuscilli Waste is where the dead bodies who worked for this company were found under all of the garbage. Chief Detective Nick Miller who knows Moonlight is having an affair with the suspect’s wife, namely the man who owns the Waste Management company, wants him to investigate the murders. Knowing this and Miller asks him to find out more about Mary his wife and what part she might be planning in what is happening. Each widow has a different reaction as the first named Kaylee is truly upset about the loss of her husband and she is about to have their first child. Whereas, Barbara the ex of the second victim is glad and relieved he is gone, tells Moonlight about the drugs, the joints and more alerting him realize that all three were doing much more than just garbage disposal and what exactly where they into and what he will learn you won’t believe.
Going with Miller to the home of the last victim who is single what they find there is startling, what they realize just might help them solve the case but not so fast. After all someone is stalking Moonlight, Mary shows up at all hours of the night, bodies are being transported and Big Tony is the one who seems to be moving drugs and dead bodies but for whom and why? Where are the bodies coming from as Moonlight stakes out the Waste Management company only to be caught by Tony and his men.
When the confrontation occurs Moonlight lets Tony that he’s going after him and will take him down. But will he live before Tony goes after him. Plus the apartment of the single victim in that apartment there are pictures of bodies that are being moved and evidence that was planted in order for Moonlight to take down Tony and where are the dead bodies going? What exactly is her doing and what part is Mary going to play when she realizes that Moonlight knows the reason why the evidence was planted.
Only Vincent Zandri can create a character with multiple personalities that is sarcastic, bold, brazen, and uniquely outspoken. Dedicated to taking down the guilty and yet having a relationship on the side that could prove deadly and toxic, he allows Moonlight to speak out, speak honestly and of course, drink up to keep awake and pumped.
All three victims were employed by this waste management company and all three worked together on something that Moonlight thought had to do with drugs and dead bodies. All three were killed by Big Tony Fuscilli style and stuffed into the back of a trash hauler and then dumped alive in the landfill where there were tons of trash. Flashbacks occur to his last with Lola but will he be able to separate the law and his goals from his relationship with Mary?
Events change and Tony takes hostages Moonlight is in the hospital but his police guard is more concerned with his nurse allowing him to leave unnoticed and shoeing up at the waste factory where the real action takes place.
The truth about what Tony was smuggling and the deals he made including the bodies will shock readers as Moonlight, Mary, and Nick run for cover but who will outrun them all? An ending that just might be the beginning of more to come for PI and his new love. Lives were taken, and corruption throughout the waste factory as author Vincent Zandri once again takes our favorite PI to new dangerous heights as Moonlight can handle as he risks it all in this five-star novel Moonlight Runs. Moonlight never backs away from a conflict or confrontation and directions are many, where to hide few places but when their energy level soars and his adrenaline rate rises the inky thing that will save the day is if Moonlight Runs where the action leads him.
