At the heart of this mystery is one man that has waited 16 years to rest his revenge on three people who sent him away. Each would get an unexpected death but one might live to take him down once more. Betrayal is another motuvecad we learn about his wife and what she pulled off.
Frank Munoz is being paroled from prison and has decided on his list for revenge. Revisiting in his mind those he met during his time served and hoping to use some of those contacts in the present, he begins his murderous spree with a young woman named Danielle Lomax about to speak to women victims of violence and abuse and share her own experiences with them never thinking she would be on the hit list of this man. Then Ali Reynolds and her husband B. Simpson run High Noon Enterprises
Built from the ground up into a multimillion-dollar enterprise. It’s a cybersecurity company located in Cottonwood. B was to participate in an international ransomware conference and he and his limo driver Hal were in an accident that was a hit planned by Frank Munoz. This. Had yet to be uncovered.
Events and crimes intertwine and there’s a link between what happened to B and Hal and the second car crash and the murder of another man, Jack Littleton shot in his home. Then hopefully to the murder of Danielle and his manner of retribution. Events move in more directions as we get to know the motivations behind the murders, we learn from Ramon Munez that his so-called real father just got paroled and has a list of victims that the AI computer named Frigg owned by High Noon was able to uncover and his son Ramon allies us first-hand information as his real father and his past. It gets complicated when Frigg goes through the list of proposed witnesses for Munrz’s trial and his death threats carried out. Jack Littleton, Alysha Morgan, and Danielle witnessed the murder and the details unfolded on pages 154-155. Wait until you learn what Frigg proposes next. Then two more deaths related to him and the bombing of Ramon’s house targeting his mother who was married to Munez. Then AJ Wilson delivering papers throws the paper and sets off the bomb that was planted by Munez to kill Ramon’s mother. Why is AJ arrested and how does Ramon come to his aid and why? While Ali and Cami are at the convention B learns he needs more surgery and she heads home. with Sister Anslem in charge, it’s under control. The ransomware convention will be left to Cami to conclude.
Author J.A.Jance created a suspenseful, action-filled novel with many voices heard and allows us to understand and experience the frustration, anguish, and expertise of the many law enforcement agencies that wove together and worked as a unit to bring down the orchestra of these horrific murders and crimes.
Detective Juanita Ochoa is handling the case involving 2 young guys murdered and looking into the links between the mystery of Danielle, and Jack and the attempted murder of Hal and how Munez fits in. There was someone else out for revenge but who and why? With his parents in the hospital, Ramon had to find a place for them to live. Frigg was now filling Ali in about what Stu had him install and her abilities are huge.
When the pieces fall into place and several departments combine detective Amos Anderson, a tough parole officer, a relentless detective, and Ali who would not give up as the final takedown, the deals made and the murder for hire come to a deadly end, once again the author keeps it moving, creates law enforcement that is credible and takedowns right out of Law and Order as Frank Munez and his murder for hire team will shock you as there is no honor among thieves it murderers out for revenge and a monetary score. What is the final fate, Hal? How does Danielle’s story that she told impact someone else? Just how many were a result of their being Collateral Damage? Each person justifies his/her actions and one man’s intent on revenge. Lies, betrayal, the loyalty of a son, the tragedy that some endured, and one Detective named Amos and another named Juanita plus their computer techs and our Frigg proves that teamwork, perseverance and commitment often win out.
