Within the walls of many businesses, the streets we you walk each day, your next door neighbor or even the pharmacist that fills your prescriptions there are people that pretend to be part of our society. Some are pilots while others work their magic in the field of medicine, computers or in the air as pilots. They could be your next-door neighbor or your son or daughter’s roommate in college. As you meet the numerous characters within this novel and listen to their stories and learn what they do you will have to decide which ones to trust and which are Enemies within our own heartland. Thirteen college friends decided with the help of one man to create an act of violence and revenge upon the United States. Evil takes its time and sometimes like a bad infection that turns deadly it can manifest itself in such a way that many innocent people including those infected by this deadly infection will suffer at the hands of those that think they deserve what they have created.

Listening to the plans as they have been devised, targeting many Americans and the President too, what will it take to bring them down and what law enforcement agencies will take the initiative to stop what has already been set in motion? The plan set in motion by some named Fawwaz and the end result of the first strike will devastate New York City and destroy the 22^nd floor of a major business.

There are many subplots that are intertwined within the major goal of a terrorist group of 13 friends who are determined to take down the United States in a very unique and horrific way. Working for major corporations, one a pilot, another the CEO of a Pharmaceutical company, others taking over a construction company, their plan is well thought out, methodically implemented and could have been ripped right out of the news as many branches of many different areas of law enforcement ban together to take them down.

Martin Jones, Dominique Johnson, Barnabus Jackson, Estaban Jorge and Michael Jepps were the new J5 or owners of Titan Construction in Trenton, New Jersey. Thinking that he sold the company to five men that actually wanted him and his two partners to stay on to help run the company, Mike Brewer gets a rude awakening when things come to light that will alert him and others that they had another agenda in mind. Titan having a reputation for being profitable and exceeding customer’s expectations, which is, why Bradley and Jones had been approached by an “ international consortium regarding the feasibility of acquiring Titan Construction Company.” Within the new walls and structure of this company these five new men would create a plan that would do more than just take America down.
Flashing to Israel and Colonel Anjumfed learning that a headless corpse was found and presenting the colonel with a small camouflaged military backpack, which was covered in blood. Five bodies were found and had AK-47; s and grenades and no knives. This would start a chain of events that would link many different law enforcement branches to hunt down and find 13 friends, that formulate a plan that would destroy a pharmaceutical companies reputation, kill the President of the United States, steal 20 peregrine drones and stupefy BG Bradley, his personnel and CPT Walker before all is said and done and a tape that would reveal the culprits just might help identify those involved.

Baz Jazal knew that the planning phases of the operation required precision, planning and no mistakes. Never wanting to be found out or detected he carefully went over each stage. Funding at the early stages was there and believers from the old country were numerous. Fawwaz Komeni is the voice and leader of this plot and regardless of who was involved there were no loyalties to people that were serving his needs. If someone appeared to be wavering or their services would hinder the next phase he did not think twice about eliminating them. Along with him was his girlfriend Anjum Abul the CEO of UMM Pharmaceuticals and Tina Roberts the girlfriend of Baz. The plan was simple to them and would require that they were able to change a formula that would help save the lives of many with cancer and let lose a deadly compound that would kill many. Murders, thefts, mass explosions, deadly compounds, as this story stretches from one side of the world across to the other Israel, Germany, America and in between the forces that are against America and what we stand for are working hard to win their own special revenge and war on the “Infidels,” as they refer to us. Revenge for what they claim was done to their parents and yet they have benefitted from being in our country. Reading the proposals and understanding the plan and the rationale will allow readers to understand just how blindsided Bill Schult and others were when this plan was set into motion and his second in command orchestrated it beautifully.

Razan Hussein is a young pilot training with Tom Barrett of US Corpjets Inc. But, just who this young man is remains to been seen and his focus or responsibility related to the plan you won’t believe. Hate, prejudice, power and revenge are at the heart of this novel as the terrorists feel that at the heart of what Americans want is money. Greed is one motive for what they think we do and never once realizing how much they have profiting by just being here and working. But, things start to change as the FBI, CIA and the Israel police and special forces and our police forces in many different states join together and find those responsible but for some it might be too late.

Tim Lyon is smart and astute and works for the CIA. Dick Edwards is part of an electronic counter espionage unit and Tim is about to be recruited. The danger is real the odds that he might get captured or worse on the table as he is given an interview and told to make up his mind on the spot. Within this novel there are numerous characters that play a major part in getting the terrorists and well as the 13 and more that want to bring us down. With Captain John Walker’s astute observations and Gordon Winslow a captain in the Clarksville Kentucky Police Department agencies coordinate and leads are followed up and the situation comes together as we hear Martin Jones introduce himself along with the other four J 5 members to Mike Brewer and his team. Giving the faces jobs and responsibilities and meeting Tim Albright they discuss the buy out and continue as if it’s all business. Forwarding to Fareed Mustad whose family noticed the remarkable change and attitude and would possibly help to bring the terrorists down. Progressive Composition Designs is his company and he uses it as a cover for what he has planned.

Senator Cartwright is more than just a politician and realizes that something is wrong and needs to be followed up. With his keen understanding of security issues he understand the meaning of human assets continued with evolution in the latest surveillance systems. The author uses the senator to discuss what makes these terrorist cells do dangerous was their ability to “infiltrate corporations and businesses.” Reading pages 68-69 is bone chilling.

Hermann Koenig’s office was the Bradley and Jones Investment section of a building and his meeting would be with a client on Skype. A visitor would come to deliver a package and Hermann Koenig and many others would die. Otto Kessler was the next victim and so many were to follow as the plan was implemented and the Compound K unleashed and the four peregrines carry the compound would not only kill many but would blindside team of men trying to stop what they never knew would happen.

As the members of the Archangel team watched the FBI mobile command center-watching agent in full HAZMAT suits recover that bodies of those that gave their lives trying to protect us, others were at an UHaul trust gathering pieces of the container that had the deadly gas. But, when you read chapters 24-27 the bloodcurdling reality will set in.

Enemy in the Heartland might be based on fictional events but the end result and the truth be told what the author has related and graphically described could happen at any moment if we are not alert and more vigilant. So many were dragged into this unknowingly as two young women gathered information to help with shipments not knowing what they would really carry. Mattie O’Toole and her partner Tina Kelly were innocent victims of a bigger plot. A story that had to be told and an author that told using timeline events that were easy to follow, allowing readers to hear the voices of those involved and an ending so explosive that you won’t see it coming. But, deceits, lies, betrayals, hate and murder are just some of what the terrorists hand out, as no one is safe from their wrath. No one can be trusted and those that are expendable are gone before they even know it. One man is behind it all and just what happens and the plan devised is remarkable. Who lives, who dies and which side wins if either? Who escapes capture? What about those that are taken into custody? Who will pay for what was done? Just how far will they go to complete their mission? What happened to the missing drones? Revenge comes when you least expect it when author Stephen Schwertley unleashes the sequel: Revenge Unleashed: America STAY ALERT!
