The Children of the Fifth Sun

Children of the Fifth Sun

Imagine finding a frozen corpse in the northern part of the Asian continent. What was found was not human but humanoid. The people’s republic of China was not founded until 1949 and before that the country was ravaged by a century of foreign invasion and civil wars. Going into China to get this humanoid is the enter of this novel and what this thing can do we shock readers. This ancient species from the sea could save humanity. Kelly Graham is a free diving photographer and is haunted by his past and is at the center of this novel and is charged with saving the last of their kind from a global race between China and us to control the creature’s power.
Believe it or not there exists a single unifying mythos thousands of years ago according to the summary of this book a great flood devastated the inhabitants of the Earth. As a result of this flood the ruins of this horrific event a race of beings emerged from the sea with knowledge and culture, which it bestowed on humanity saving us from extinction. Within this novel you will meet one of these creatures named K’in who is smart, can create certain situations within the person he’s attached to and he is one of the ancient aliens who came to assist our evolution. As you get to know this creature what if it was not alien? What if they came and were created right near us on Earth? What if they are still here and the World’s governments know it?

The star of our novel at least at first is Kelly Graham a self-absorbed, self-assured freelance photographer who is proficient and specializes in underwater assignments. Along with his best friend like a brother to him, Chris D’Souza, a government official with a secret past, on a project in the Amazon, where Freya Nilsson enters his world and creates chaos and leads him down many paths that you will learn are dangerous and deadly requesting that he retrieve by going underwater in a free diving mission, to retrieve a strange object from the deep water and placing him and his entire team and universe smack dab in the center of an international conspiracy.
Listening to the General in charge he and the others learn that this creature was not an alien.
Things spiral out of control and during a dive Chris is killed and Vicky is the accidental shooter. But, as the story progresses and they learn more about K’in it’s apparent that someone else is after this coveted prize. Learning that Vicky is alive and hearing her what Kelly has to tell her that the truck was totaled that she was in and that they thought she was dead. Kelly told her that it hade been a rogue faction of the Green and Red societies-a Chinese cult that had attacked them at Paradise Ranch. How the cult had released hemorrhagic fever virus into America to kill thousands of people. After the truck was destroyed Kelly and K’in were taken captive on a submarine. Freya created an all out search for them and found them taking them to Peru. K’in they think is dead. Looking into it further the author explains that humans are allowed to communicate with K’in and the General and the professor decide such power should not sit with any particular country’s military. His plan was to release the chaos but it gets more complicated. K’in during a gunfight wanted to protect Freya. It protected humans.
The Shan Chu was insane and would do anything to get K’in including taking out anyone in his way. Failure was death of torture. Answering him back even worse. The only outcome would be for him to get the creature and rule the world in his own demented way.
Hearing his voice would alarm anyone and what he does to those that he finds or thinks are disloyal is frightening. But, Kelly wants something else to happen as Vicky now is attached to K’in who has taken over the life and her mind. She cannot deal with this and he is determined to get it out of her and into him at all cost.
A confrontation so deadly that the author created scenes that will give readers chills and let you know that Teller, Kelly and Freya including Sasha are not going to let this man win. But, what does uranium have to do with this? Communicating they took their weapons and told them to come and assist but who and why? The Triads are monitoring the American forces and the last thing they were expecting was Russian help. Moles, spies and a conspiracy so high up that you won’t see it coming as Kelly relates that he saw it through the creatures eyes. Bad dreams plagued Kelly as he thinks he sees soldiers, American and FSB pacing the perimeter of the underground camp. Shan Chu managed to snake his way through the American soldiers and delivering bone crunching strikes to their faces and heads as he sprang from the wall. Holding a glowing blue, gelatinous orb, which case sinister shadows on the roof of the cave. When blinding light exploded from the orb and filled the cave the Shan Chu spasmed and writhed but will he survive? Wak the orb went and slumped to the floor but it’s not over yet. The ending will surprise readers and the final fate of all of these valiant people will come to some hope and some tragedy. The Epilogue will bring certain revelations that the author creatively put in as a child is born his finger is injured but what happens to him and if it is cured you have to learn for yourself. Is this over yet? Is K’in gone and if not is he contained? Where is the original corpse? Is this the end of the beginning? Author Gareth Worthington poses many questions within this novel: What would we do if another form of life exists? What would we do if nations fought for it? What would happen if K’in really exists? Deceit, lies, betrayals and one man named Kelly Graham that would risk it all but why?
