Within Plain Sight: Bruce Cofffin

Imagine finding a head of a body in a garbage bag that you found in a dumpster. What does this homeless veteran do and what will become of the evidence needed when the remains of this person are found? How will they learn the identity of the victim and who might the killer be as the suspects pile high and the motives increase when Detective Sergeant John Byron is called to the scene of this horrific murder. Haunted by the memory of the murders committed in Boston by a serial killer known as the Horseman could his be the same killer who is at large?

Byron is relentless and methodical and with his team gets the information about the victim’s identity and learns more from her roommate. But the connection to where she worked and the people who owned the restaurant leads to many unanswered questions, alibis that don’t add up and to a powerful movie star who wins the restaurant and whose money might help save someone that might be guilty. Angelina Stavros is wealthy and powerful and seems to be hiding something and her son in law Alex had a relationship with the victim but is he guilty? The suspects are mounting up as the police try and narrow it down but what changes when the homeless man brings new light to the death?

When lies are told and truths come out Byron learns about an alibi that was fudged and things heated up as Dani’s loaner car is found, a house is searched for clues and rich man might find himself in the inside looking out.

Diane is up for Sergeant, but one candidate might have the edge. Politics and pull might sway the odds a leak in the Portland PD brings another phase of the investigation to the media and the public. Will they learn more and who was Dani meeting and why? Did they find the murder scene as the team goes over everything with a fine comb?

A suspect is brought in, but money and power might change the odds as Byron had yet to narrow it down to one. Author Bruce Coffin takes readers inside the workings of an ongoing police investigation allowing readers to take the journey along with the team experiencing it with them firsthand.

Byron is not stumped very often but as the pieces start to fit into place and the pressure mounts from the top, mistakes can be made, lives can be placed in danger, but someone is one step ahead all the time

When the murder scene is finally identified, the DNA is analyzed was Dani killed in this residence that she visited and was it a jealous wife, a mother who was protecting someone or someone else that wanted her out of the way or was it greed?

  • A family that might be torn apart as alibis are found to be false, friendships are frayed and power and money might take the truth on a different path as Byron, Stevens , Tran, Nugent, Pelligrosso and more take painstakingly and methodically all over the one place that might give them the answers they need. Teaming with his cousin who’s heading the Horseman Murder case, finally getting the one Detective that might help tie it together, are the cases related, is this a copycat case or was her murder meant for another reason. Who’d want property where a body found like hers was left? Was this a crime of passion? Lies, betrayals, coverups and someone who is leaking information and might create media frenzy as the new Chief wants her moment the spotlight and his boss just wants it solved. With the help of attorney who brings both sides to light just who really killed Danica and why?
  • An arrest is made and the situations volatile as someone leaked it to the press and things get out of hand. Chief Lynds wanted to look good first time running an investigation, LeRoyer only wanted to come out shining in her eyes, and not even thinking twice about throwing Byron under the bus. Added in Diane goes for the interview, in some regard freezes and the outcome has yet to be revealed.
  • Tempers are high, a restaurant is in turmoil and a suspect is arrested but is this the real killer?
  • Then something happens that changes the course of the investigation and Byron meets with someone and the lies are told, the reasons for the betrayals unfold but just how will this meeting change the result?
  • While dealing with the case and then having to reevaluate evidence, Diane must face off with the Chief about whether she gets the promotion or not.
  • Things take on a different turn as evidence comes to light, the person that removed the head of the victim admits it but who killed Danica and why you won’t believe. A family divided and a mother whose loyalties are unsavory to say the least. As author Bruce Coffin sends Detective John Byron on a chase to catch a dangerous killer before another victim falls prey to this person’s wills and wants.
  • An ending that is graphically created, and a chase scene that will keep readers tense as the tension build, Le Royer is not exactly supportive as he just wants to come out looking good for the Chief but John Byron is relentless, smart and the final scenes will keep you on edge.
  • When the past comes into the present and the threads are all tied together neatly will Byron save the next victim of this killer and just why did this person take Dani’s life? A family so divided and an ending that will make you wonder what the true meaning of family love, loyalties and forgiveness are. When money is in play and power and greed play an important role, jealousies can cause a rift and in the end a killer might just be hiding Within Plain Sight! John Byron is tough and with a team that is loyal, smart and determined author Bruce Coffin once again proves that if Byron is on the case anything can happen. Filled with tense scenes, outstanding police work, true to life experiences from the author’s own past as a Detective for the Portland Police Department once again those five stars will shine when the book is released February 4, 2020. Never judge someone by their appearance and think that they are not smart, astute and intelligent as the reader learns when you meet Winn!
