JustIn Fights Sleep: Ashely Vien
We all get excited before embarking of a trip or a visit to someone special and at times some of us stay up all night so that we are not late or missing something. Everyone wants to embrace every minute and Justin is no different. Coming home from school he does all his homework, ate his dinner in speed zone and did everything needed to make sure he was ready for his trip to the zoo the next day. But although his mother wanted him to get a good night’s sleep Justin had other ideas.
When his mother puts him to bed Justin plays with his toys, and his Bed decides to try and help him tire. Bed had a plan and meant well but sometimes the best laid plans backfire.
Bed told Justin he wanted to play a game. Bed tired but Justin did not. Then they played another one and Bed lost and tired before Justin. Justin was so pumped he did not go to sleep and stayed up all night.
What happens when a young child does not sleep? What happens when he is riding to the zoo? Well, you won’t get it from me but maybe if you read it Justin might let you in on what happened. Does he get to see the animals? What about the trip to the zoo? Will he have to wait for another time?
Children need to understand that sleep is vital and sometimes being over excited can hamper you the next day. Parents can use this as an example of following directions and rules and understanding that they just might know best.
Justin is a typical child who gets excited about a real life experience that most kids would love to have. The zoo is fun but being too tired to appreciate it might hamper the day and will Justin Fight Sleep next time? Find out when you read this heartwarming story. The illustrations are priceless and makes the story some alive and I love that the author uses the Bed as the catalyst to teach him why staying awake well read it and find out!
