The 13 th hour Chaos

Can you envision your entire world crumbling right before your eyes? A nightmare that will haunt your waking hour and never leave you. A simple 4 the of July celebration turns deadly as the small town of Byram Hills is attacked by terrorists creating an apocalyptic scene that will kill thousands. Nick Quinn watched his wife die and was given a chance to save her. That was the past this event is the present and the town will not recover as its huge dam blows up, Nick sees it all and everyone including his family dies. 

Reliving the past when he was given an odd pocket watch to change what happened and a chance afforded him to right wrongs, that watch allowed him to turn back time one hour at a time, but the catch: for only 12 hours. Nick needs help to unravel what happened as his close friend, Paul Dreyfus is shot hands him an antique picket watch that will allow him to rewrite events in the recent past. This watch as the first bone he received in the past allows the owner to go back in time one hour at a time for a 12-hour trip for Nick to learn who was behind the attack and once again save his family and friends. 

As we meet other players within this plot we learn that Julia his wife has a major secret, and it could be linked to what happened. 

Meet Detective Sutton and Marcus two close friends of Nick who enlists to unravel this horror. A video of the explosion and what happened to the dam and watching the deaths of so many, he is now back in time one hour and convinces the detective you have this town and the people at this event which is for a political candidate and those celebrating the 4 the to be evacuated. 

Navy divers find the first line of explosives but here is where it gets scary. Julia seems bent on not listening to Nick’s warnings of danger and Nick pulls out from a bag Dreyfus hands him before he dies , a letter explaining it all. 

Telling him there’s still time to save Julia and everyone. This is the letter included in my review for readers to understand the gravity of what comes next. 

But it gets more interesting as Nick calls Paul and explains what happened and why he needs to hide the contents of the bag but someone else enters the picture claiming to be Special Agent Janos Zane and here is where Nick will face his biggest challenge and foe. Why is he involved and what is his role? 

The celebration was in full swing as the Killian Dam with thousands there were all drowned by a sudden deadly flood. Working class neighbors, large estates and even forests are under water. Dead children, bodies broken, and numerous eyewitnesses reported hearing large explosions just before the dam burst. Fear reigns throughout the country and water would be gone and nothing to drink, put out fires and a precious resource gone. But Nick held on to the pocket watch given to him by Shamus Hennicot and Paul Dreyfus. 

What happens next is puzzling as Zane takes control of Nick and demands the wet dive bag. Asking him as he makes more demands how well he knows Julia? Guns pointed , threats made and then time goes back another hour. 

Events become more complies we get a picture of the past of the state senator Chase, and we learn his past and his marriages and how he managed to rise to the top. Not the savoriest past and yet with his wife’s money he managed to get ahead but needed a replacement that would help launch his career. 

Getting back to the new present as Nick knows Zane is looking for Julia but what happens in the distant past changes lives more as Zane kills the two people closest to Julia and Nick is kidnapped and things spiral in different directions. Agent Renzo takes Nick into custody and it’s hard to tell who’s on who’s side. Why does Nick give him the large envelope, the files, BMW smart key and the memory stick? 

Then a revelation as we learn not everyone is who or what they seem and just when you think you know who created the attack, you don’t. 

Just who is Zane and why the distance from Chase his father? As time goes back the author through Nick allows us to learn what happened to thousands of people or did it? Throughout the novel the pace picks up as both Nick and Zane race time before smith er hour is up and we learn the fate of Julia again, why Seamus and Katherine are gone and the truth behind the bombing revealed. 

From the future to the past, we learn those that lied, committed treason, framed Zane for murders he never committed , killed him in the future and an antique watch at the heart of it all. Not just one but two. 

Confrontations, deaths, two men Carter and Renzo, each one struggling for freedom, one wanting to control history and tome the other the implications for battle , war being able to correct mistakes and defeating your enemy by knowing his every move. Carter had his plan, he framed Zane for deaths to control him and focusing on killing Julia and Katy. A pocket watch with untold power, what if he destroyed it? Only two or is there more? A dam that blew up, thousands die, the president too, the three from foreign countries and more. Shamus is the key and the truths revealed as the author creates an ending you won’t believe and a secret that will remain within the heart and mind of two. Who lives, who dies, find out when you reach the 13 the hour chaos. A hidden bunker, the murder of the president, Carter Bull, Renzo , Zane, Chase , Dreyfus, Marcus and Nick: can he or anyone go back an hour and stop it all? Shamus’s vault stealing the contents and a man avenging what his family lost. The plan was to detonate the charges at 8:55 and make sure all 3 leaders were underground in the facility. The event would be filmed, and the mastermind Tuskav pressed the detonator and the dam’s destruction broadcast all over the world. Battles fought and refought, lies, greed, power struggles and loyalty and Hope are at the heart of each individual character, but which fits each one as Nick makes a decision that might change his world unless the author chooses to share with us the true power of the watch. An ending that is powerful and a secret never to be revealed. What would you do if you could change history, the death of a loved one or save the world?
